Excellent for large containers, maybe one each side of a front door or as stand alone pieces. They really contrast well against a white wall or in white containers.

Hi guys just a quick one on watering hedging and trees - for those of you that I have planted for recently, I explained to water in a dry week. Well this has been a dry week. So recently planted hedging and trees will need a good splash of water. Also a good time to give them a first feed.

Some very interesting pollination tips here. A crab-apple tree is ideal for cross pollination or indeed having a few different varieties can increase the chances of a bumper crop. Last year 2019 we had a very poor crop of cooking apples, I thought it was due to the tree getting old and coming to the end of life phase. It turned out it was a particularly cold spell in early summer with a hard frost. The trees unfortunately were in full blossom so there were no pollinators (Bees, Moths, Wasps, Flies) available to fertilise the apple blossoms, resulting in very a poor yield.

Cross pollination between apple trees is crucial to achieving good fruit set when growing apples. Learn more about cross pollinating apples in this article so you can ensure a healthy crop of fruit.
