Completed a particularly tricky job for a customer this week.
The existing consumer unit was far too small for the number of circuits in the property. Several circuits had been incorrectly grouped together, meaning that when a fault occurred it would trip the entire house.
After investigating the installation, all circuits were properly identified, separated, and reconfigured. We installed a new consumer unit with sufficient capacity to accommodate all circuits in the property safely and correctly.
A full periodic inspection was also carried out, and several remedial issues were identified and addressed.
Interestingly, this board had only been upgraded by another contractor around 2.5 years ago, yet the installation was clearly not designed or installed correctly.
This job is a good reminder that electrical work should always be done properly the first time. A correctly installed system won’t need to be revisited again shortly afterwards.
Another safe installation and a happy customer.
