Do's & Dont's
Do
Do empty your tank more regularly if your tank is sloped downwards from your dwelling
Do collect other dirty water ie washing machine and other in some form of a sealed holding tank
Diverting straight to ground will eventually cause blockages and is a big pollutant
Do check covers on septic tank especially if children are playing in the area / proper covers sealed properly
Do look for receipts from now on as inspections will involve details of proof of licenced desludging of tanks
Do check Bio-cycle systems and pumped systems
You can do a lot of damage over time without knowing
Don't
Do not flush anything other than toilet paper down toilets
Sanitary ware and others to be disposed by other means
Do not continuously rod the drains if blockages keep occurring , you could be pushing heavier dirty water through your percolation area without you knowing
Do not have excess water /ie rain water / enter your tank
Do not divert other dirty water from your tank as a solution for helping the lifespan of your percolation for septic tank
