🌿🏆 Double ESG Success for Kilrush Credit Union! 🏆🌿

We are incredibly proud to announce that Kilrush Credit Union has been named ESG Leadership of the Year and ESG Team of the Year at the Workplace Excellence Awards 2026.

These awards recognise the work being done across our credit union to support our communities, reduce our environmental impact and create positive social change throughout West Clare.

From our Rewilding for Wellbeing project, Knook Books and Studyclix initiatives, to green lending, digital transformation, eStatements and our journey towards a more paper-light future, this recognition belongs to our entire team, our partners and our members.

A special congratulations to Áine Thompson on receiving the ESG Leadership Award, and to Sarah and Caitlin for their outstanding work on the Rewilding for Wellbeing project.

As we celebrate Sustainable September, there's no better time to reflect on how small actions can make a big difference.

📣 Supporting Local Talent in West Clare

Many people around Kilrush will know Brian Cusack from seeing his beautiful artwork at the Kilrush Farmers Market each week. Over the past year, we have also been lucky enough to get to know Brian through our ESG Community Project, where he and the talented team at WoodWebs/Corlann handcrafted a fantastic bench and planters that will become a lasting feature of the new over 65s group.

We are delighted to see Brian's work being showcased in his upcoming exhibition, "Gardens of the Bell", a collection of landscape paintings inspired by West Clare.

🌿 Project Update – Woodwebs & Corlann Ireland 🌿

We're delighted to shine a light on the fantastic work being carried out by WoodWebs, a subsidiary of Corlann, as part of our Rewilding for Wellbeing Community Project.

The handcrafted planter boxes for the garden have now been completed and can be seen in their temporary home in Vandeleur Walled Garden, Kilrush , and the bespoke bench is almost ready for its new home. Over the coming weeks, the bench will be on display at the WoodWebs Market on The Square in Kilrush every Thursday, giving the community a chance to see the incredible craftsmanship of the WoodWebs team.

What makes this project so special is the collaboration behind it, bringing together organisations, participants and volunteers to create something with a lasting impact for our community.

With just one final step remaining, we're looking forward to seeing the project completed next month. A huge thank you to everyone involved so far for their time, talents and support. 💚

As part of Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the community connections at the heart of our Active Age & Wellbeing Project 💜
Each week, Kilrush Credit Union hosts two community sessions with the Clarecare group, bringing people together through creativity, conversation and shared experiences.
This month, we’ve been focusing on art and upcycling, repainting old plant pots that will soon be filled and planted as part of the garden project 🌱
It’s also been fantastic for members of our team to visit the wonderful gang at WoodWebs, part of Corlann, who are handcrafting the benches and planters for the space. Seeing the care, creativity and craftsmanship behind their work has made the project even more meaningful.
Community projects like this are about so much more than gardens, they’re about people, connection and belonging.
