Home re-build.
Since 2023 large houses in Uk and Ireland are being re-built … sometimes in the same style with the same plan. The reasons are different. In UK legislation changed to allow historic houses keep their original heating systems…not having to switch to modern systems reduced the cost and saved historic fabric and details.
In Ireland it’s because of the awful Pyrite crisis.

The middle horizontal wall can be opened up more, and wc removed, and columns put in that place, with steels overhead. Note adding steels can cost a minimum of 6-10k, up to 15k.
Along the middle (vertical running wall on plan) I show a curved wall. This technique is less expensive, & not complicated but needs specialist contractor who can understands. And would have big knock-on effect on the ceiling. Which would need repair then, and mouldings re-made to the curve also.
Biggest issue here is the Fire Cert- protecting the kitchen from stairwell: closing fire doors needed to separate, and fire rated plasterboard. Specialist professional advice needed for sign off… but all is possible!
