A great evening at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards last night. While we didn’t pick up the award this year in the Specialist Services Contract €1m–€10m category for our Woodbrook DART Station project, we were delighted to be recognised as finalists amongst such strong company.

It was a very enjoyable night catching up with colleagues across the industry, reconnecting with familiar faces, and meeting a few new ones along the way. Great also to see so many West of Ireland companies taking home awards on the night. Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists.

A sincere thank you to the organisers and sponsors for another superbly run event. We’re proud to have been part of the occasion and honoured to have represented the Woodbrook DART Station project on the night.

Last Friday, members of the CBE team headed to to take part in the annual Golf AM AM hosted by .

We were delighted to enter a team in what was a fantastic few days of golf, community spirit and friendly competition — particularly the high-stakes rivalry between our QS and PM teams, which brought plenty of competitive spirit to the day.

Events like these are a great reminder of the importance of supporting local clubs and organisations that play such a vital role in the community.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising such a well-run and enjoyable event — we’re already looking forward to the next one.

Great to be back at Clarin College Athenry for their Apprenticeship Week initiative!

Following our visit last year, the Careers Guidance team reported a huge level of interest in the electrical trade and strong demand from students to hear more about the apprenticeship pathway again this year. A big thank you to the school for inviting us back.

One of the highlights of this year’s visit was hearing from Padraig Mir, now a 1st Year Apprentice with us, who was actually sitting in the audience during last year’s talk at Clarin College. Padraig shared his first-hand experience of life as an electrical apprentice and the opportunities the career can offer. His message to students was simple — “Earn while you learn.”

Ger and Patricia also gave students an insight into the full structure of an electrical apprenticeship, from the initial sign-up process right through each training phase and beyond qualification.

There are incredible opportunities available within the electrical industry today, not only as qualified electricians, but also pathways into Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Quality Control, Project Management and many other specialised areas. We even have recently qualified electricians interested in now progressing towards Bachelor of Engineering Level 7 qualifications.

It’s important for young people to understand that an apprenticeship is not just a job — it is a career pathway with many exciting options to explore.

A huge credit to the students for their engagement, interest, and thoughtful questions throughout the session. We always value the opportunity to connect with local schools and support students in exploring practical and rewarding career opportunities.

What a fantastic evening at the Construction Industry Federation West Gala Dinner in the Ardilaun Hotel on Friday night!

It was a great opportunity for our team to catch up with colleagues across the construction industry, strengthen existing relationships, and make some valuable new connections along the way.

A fantastic day last Friday as our team proudly took part in Wear Blue for Hollyblue 💙

It was brilliant to see so many of our office staff getting involved and making the effort to wear blue in support of such an important cause. We also had the pleasure of visiting Hollyblue House, where some of the team enjoyed coffee, cake, and a chance to see firsthand the incredible work being done to support those affected by cancer in our community.

A huge thank you to the committee for their warm hospitality – it was a truly welcoming and uplifting morning.

We were especially honoured to see the unveiling of the beautiful patchwork quilt wall hanging – an amazing piece of craftwork with so much meaning behind it.

Delighted to support Gort Cancer Support and the vital services they provide 💙

All funds raised by our team through the bucket donations will be match funded by the company, with proceeds going directly towards supporting the delivery of services provided by Gort Cancer Support.

A great milestone reached…Phase 1 complete at Ceannt Station, Galway
Over the past few weeks and months especially, there’s been a strong push on site to get this phase over the line, and it’s good to see the result now coming together.
With Platforms 3 and 4 now open, along with new concourse areas and passenger facilities, the project is taking real shape and will make a noticeable difference for those travelling through Galway.
Great to work alongside BAM Ireland as the main contractor and Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail in delivering this phase.
From our side, this one is about the team.
Everyone at Colin Burke Electrical played their part — putting in the time, working through tight deadlines, and pulling together when it counted.
A solid effort all round and a job well done.
More to come as the project progresses.

Re-sharing this as we continue to grow and take on more long-term work across the Midlands.

The demand hasn’t slowed and we’re still looking to bring strong electrical professionals into the team. What’s been especially positive is the consistency of our project pipeline and the ability to offer roles outside the usual Dublin city commute.

If you’re looking for stability, well-run projects, and locations that make day-to-day life easier, this could be a great fit.

We’re Hiring – Electrical Professionals

Due to a strong pipeline of long-term projects in Kildare, Meath, and across the Midlands, we’re expanding our team. Many of our sites are outside the M50, offering accessible locations without the daily traffic congestion of Dublin city.

We’re currently seeking:
✔ Commercial QS with an Electrical bias
✔ Qualified Electricians
✔ Project Managers
✔ Supervisors
✔ Foremen

to join an established and growing electrical contractor working on well-managed, large-scale, long-term projects.

Why work with us?
✔ Multiple secured, long-term projects
✔ Regionally based sites – less Dublin city travel
✔ Stable roles with career progression at all levels
✔ Opportunity to work on accessible, well-planned sites outside traffic hotspots

If you’re looking for your next opportunity — closer to home and built for the long term — we’d like to hear from you.
