OCC Construction is delighted to announce the commencement of works on the redevelopment of the historic Mount St. Mary’s Convent in Westport, Co. Mayo.

Working in partnership with Tuath Housing, this conservation-led project will transform the former convent into 18 high-quality social housing apartments, providing much-needed homes while preserving an important part of Westport's architectural heritage.

As a protected structure, the project requires a careful balance between restoration and modernisation. Original features including slate roofs, sash windows, historic masonry, decorative plasterwork and timber elements will be sensitively restored and retained, while modern building services and accessibility upgrades are integrated throughout.

This project highlights the value of breathing new life into historic buildings, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques to create sustainable homes for future generations.

We look forward to working closely with the entire project team as this landmark development progresses.

We're delighted to announce that OCC Construction has commenced works on the redevelopment of the former Our Lady's Hermitage building at the Marist College site in Athlone. This exciting project will see the refurbishment of the existing protected structure alongside the construction of new accommodation, delivering 55 much-needed homes for the local community.

This landmark development will revitalise an important historic building while creating high-quality modern homes and preserving a key part of Athlone's built heritage.

We are proud to be working in partnership with Tuath Housing Association and Westmeath County Council on this significant project and look forward to bringing it to completion.

A big thank you to our project team and all stakeholders involved as works get underway.

🏗️ Progress Update | Gort National School

Work is progressing well on our Gort National School project, with blockwork now underway and the building really starting to take shape.

It’s great to see the project moving forward and key elements of the structure becoming visible on site. A lot of hard work and coordination goes into reaching this stage, and the progress to date is a credit to everyone involved.

A big thank you to our project team, site management, subcontractors, design partners, and client representatives for their continued commitment, collaboration, and effort. We look forward to sharing further updates as the project continues to develop.

A great day out at the CIF West Region Golf Day in Oughterard! ⛳
Several members of the OCC Construction team were delighted to attend this year's event, enjoying a fantastic day of golf, networking, and catching up with colleagues from across the construction industry.

Great progress is being made on our 80-unit residential development at Killala Road, Ballina, being delivered on behalf of Mayo County Council.
Foundation works are advancing well across the site, with rising elements now underway and reinforced concrete walls beginning to take shape. These milestones mark a significant step forward in the delivery of much-needed, high-quality homes for the local community.
A strong focus remains on quality, safety, and efficient project delivery, as our site team continues to work closely with Mayo County Council, Van Dijk Architects, Duffy Chartered Engineers, Semple & McKillop Consulting Engineers, and McGahon Surveyors to progress the development in line with programme objectives.

🏗️ New Project | Tuam, Co. Galway

OCC Construction is delighted to have signed the contract with Galway County Council for the delivery of a new €15.1 million, 62-home social housing development at Farrannamartin, Galway Road, Tuam.

The development will provide a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes, apartments and bungalows, including universally designed and specially adapted homes, together with a central landscaped park, play facilities and pedestrian routes.

The homes will be delivered to NZEB standards, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, sustainability and long-term building performance, helping to reduce energy demand, lower carbon emissions and provide comfortable, high-quality homes for residents.

Works are set to commence shortly, with completion targeted for April 2028. We look forward to working with Galway County Council and the wider project team to deliver a sustainable, high-quality development and a lasting community for Tuam.
