A great day out at the CIF West Region Golf Day in Oughterard! ⛳
Several members of the OCC Construction team were delighted to attend this year's event, enjoying a fantastic day of golf, networking, and catching up with colleagues from across the construction industry.
A big thank you to the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) West Region for organising another excellent event in a great setting.

Great progress is being made on our 80-unit residential development at Killala Road, Ballina, being delivered on behalf of Mayo County Council.
Foundation works are advancing well across the site, with rising elements now underway and reinforced concrete walls beginning to take shape. These milestones mark a significant step forward in the delivery of much-needed, high-quality homes for the local community.
A strong focus remains on quality, safety, and efficient project delivery, as our site team continues to work closely with Mayo County Council, Van Dijk Architects, Duffy Chartered Engineers, Semple & McKillop Consulting Engineers, and McGahon Surveyors to progress the development in line with programme objectives.

🏗️ New Project | Tuam, Co. Galway

OCC Construction is delighted to have signed the contract with Galway County Council for the delivery of a new €15.1 million, 62-home social housing development at Farrannamartin, Galway Road, Tuam.

The development will provide a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes, apartments and bungalows, including universally designed and specially adapted homes, together with a central landscaped park, play facilities and pedestrian routes.

The homes will be delivered to NZEB standards, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, sustainability and long-term building performance, helping to reduce energy demand, lower carbon emissions and provide comfortable, high-quality homes for residents.

Works are set to commence shortly, with completion targeted for April 2028. We look forward to working with Galway County Council and the wider project team to deliver a sustainable, high-quality development and a lasting community for Tuam.

Employee Spotlight: Adam McGuire

We're proud to shine a spotlight on Adam McGuire, one of our talented Project Quantity Surveyors at OCC Construction.

Adam's journey with OCC began as a student Quantity Surveyor on placement, where he quickly demonstrated a strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to delivering quality work. Since then, he has progressed through the business and grown into his current role as a Project QS, playing an important part in the successful delivery of our projects.

Adam's career path is a great example of the opportunities available at OCC for ambitious individuals looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career in construction.

We're delighted to have Adam as part of the team and look forward to seeing his continued success in the years ahead.

Last week, our team came together at O'Connells Bar to celebrate another fantastic summer with colleagues from across the business.
The evening was a great opportunity to relax, enjoy some food and drinks, and spend time together away from site and office projects. As always, it's the people who make OCC Construction such a great place to work, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the occasion.

We are Pleased to share the Block A Energy Retrofit project at Merlin Park University Hospital Galway for our valued Client HSE. The project involved the installation of new high performance roofing system, Large Scale 200 panel Solar Panel Array, mounting systems, Fall Arrest and M&E upgrades, helping to generate clean, renewable electricity on-site, reduce carbon emissions, and improve the building's long-term energy performance.
Delivered within a live healthcare environment, the works were carefully planned and coordinated to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations, with Lean Construction principles and BIM-led coordination supporting safe and efficient delivery.
We're also looking forward to continuing similar rooftop upgrades at Units 7, 8, 9 and 9A, further supporting Merlin Park's sustainability journey.
