Another D-Plant polytunnel is ready for growing, this time in Askintinny, Co. Wicklow!

This 3.7m x 6m polytunnel has been installed with a base rail, crop bars and doors, creating a practical and protected space for growing a wide range of crops throughout the seasons.

The days are getting shorter, but there’s still plenty to keep you busy in the veg garden this month. October is all about harvesting the last of your summer crops, planting for winter, and getting your beds ready for next year.

🎃 Harvest pumpkins, squash, and maincrop potatoes before the frosts arrive

🫛 Pick the last beans, courgettes, and outdoor tomatoes

🌱 Plant garlic, onions, and overwintering broad beans

🥬 Sow hardy spinach, winter lettuce, and salad leaves in the polytunnel

🧹 Clear away spent crops and add compost or manure to empty beds

❄ Protect young and overwintering plants with fleece, cloches or in your polytunnel
