We recently had the privilege of replacing a roof that had been protecting this property since the 1930s! After decades of service, it was time to give this home the modern, durable roofing system it deserves. 💪✨

The original Blue Bangor slate roof, which had served the property for many decades, was carefully stripped and removed. This allowed us to fully inspect the roof structure and prepare the property for a complete roofing upgrade. 👷‍♂️🔍🪨

🌲 Step 2: New Pressure-Treated Roof Structure

This stair gate was built using solid hardwood, constructed with traditional mortise-and-tenon joints for maximum structural integrity and long-term durability. The turned spindles are individually housed into precision-drilled mortises in the top and bottom rails, then glued and clamped to ensure a tight, seamless fit 🪵

The frame was carefully dry-assembled and squared before final glue-up to guarantee accuracy 📐 All edges were hand-finished and finely sanded, leaving the piece ready for finishing to match the surrounding staircase. Built to exact measurements, ensuring a flawless fit within the opening.

Installed with heavy-duty hardware into a solid timber post for strength, safety and smooth operation 🔩 — combining practicality with craftsmanship.

🏠💧 We attended a leaking chimney breast caused by a previous repair that had failed after only a couple of years. On inspection, 🪵❌ rotted timber and old felt were found, allowing water to track into the property.

🔧 A full long-term repair was completed today, including removal of the rotten timbers and old felt, installation of a new breathable membrane 🌬️, replacement with pressure-treated timber all around the chimney🪵✅, and repointing of the ridge 🧱.

📚 This highlights the importance of using the correct materials and methods when carrying out roof and chimney repairs — done properly, it prevents repeat leaks 💦 and unnecessary damage 💸.

We were called out today to a serious leak around a chimney stack that was letting water into a newly converted attic 😬💧
A nightmare for any homeowner… especially after already paying twice for repairs.
