An empty rack level isn't storage. It's a place for things to fall through.
If you're storing anything that isn't a full, sound pallet — cartons, picked-down stock — you need a deck across those beams.
We've 28mm chipboard in 12ft x 4ft sheets, cut to your exact frame depth and bay width. Thick enough not to sag across a 900mm span, and cut down to panels one person can lift onto a rack instead of an 85kg sheet three of you can't.
