Decking compilation by Kevin Baumann of Landscaping.ie
Decking is a very versatile feature in garden design. It allows you to go the same level as DPC, allowing for a seamless connection between house and garden.
It is warmer than paving both on the eye and underfoot.
It's great for creating height with limited filling required.
There are unfortunately downsides, including: Limited life, Regular maintenance, Gets slippy
Decking provides a great solution for achieving height, say against a house, treehouse, viewing platforms to achieve views, and so on

Correct planting schemes are one of the most important factors in the creation of a successful garden design. It could be said that a good landscaping project can only be judged 5 years after implementation. Selected plants should fit many criteria, including: Full sun or partial shade, height and spread, Flowering and colour, Spread and height, Ground cover, Fastigiate, Tree/shrub or perennial, Variegation, Specimen, Hardiness, Preferred soil type, Form, Planter compatibe, Preferred moisture range, Deciduous or evergreen.
All the above and more must be considered when creating a successful customized planting plan.

Landscaping Contract, Monkstown, Co Dublin. Our brief was to create a child friendly garden. The desing was a simple one, including: Upper and lower patio areas, Large lawn area, Garden lighting, New surrounds, Low maintenance planting, Raised beds, 10x8' Baumanns garden shed.
The clients were very happy with the result and kindly posted a five star review.

Water-features by Kevin Baumann of Landscaping.ie.
Like garden lighting water-features create ambiance within any garden design. Water-features create sound which is soothing and relaxing to the soul. Water-features allow for great effects using lights. For example, in Glencree I have created a formal pond with white backing wall. Lights are used to glaze the water in front casting rippleing/dancing oscillations onto the wall. At night it looks fabulous. Lighting from below looks well or behind rills on waterfalls.
Water is in constant movement allowing for a dynamic feature to be created. Water also draws wildlide into your garden. Most noticeable are the birds visiting for a wash or drink.
On the downside though, they are very expensive and can give a lot of trouble if not installed correctly.

Low Maintenance Garden, Tallaght, Co Dublin by Kevin Baumann of Landscaping.ie

On arriving the garden was in a pretty bad state. The dog had now departed but he had certainly left an imprint on his surroundings. The previous lawn was now a wildflower meadow. Access was good so no problem with inserting a mini digger. There was also tap and outdoor socket. Existing vegetation was a medium sized Sorbus aucuparia which was in good condition and worth keeping.

I surveyed the site, took photos, did video walk-around and had a good chat with the client. The client was from the countryside and wanted a garden to mirror this.

After a couple of weeks I emailed a scaled A4 design which the client thankfully accepted. The design was very traditional in style with low maintenance a priority. A date was set and deposit taken.

The design I created was based around the client's brief, and included : Pressure treated Infill trellis sections softening the surrounding walls, Two Crazy paved Donegal Quartz seating areas linked by Donegal quartz stepping stones, Beds and paving defined by reclaimed 200x100x100 red bricks, laying of geo-textile through whole garden to suppress weeds, Disguising of geo-textile with 14mm gravel and grade 1 bark mulch within beds, Naturalised planting, Waterfall and pond, Low voltage garden & aquatic lighting strategically placed throughout, Pointing of all joints with 3:1 sand & cement mix, Installation of bird table in keeping with the wildlife theme.

All in all the garden turned out as the client had hoped, came within budget with the client kindly posting a five star Google review.

A waterfeature that can be created in minutes. No electeical work required, just seal a nice planter, container etc., fill wirh water and he presto you have a self contained water feature. The product I used was the Betta 700 Solar poweted pump, comming in at a whopping 87E
These 3 have been working away, hassle free for the past 5 Mths.
The Solar panel has plenty of cable to be placed in a sunny spot. This is essential for smoorh running of the feature.

There are many effects that can be created when using garden lighting, including; Uplighting, Downlighting, Washing, Shadowing, Crossing, Safety, Aquatic, Security, to name a few. At Landscaping.ie we only install low voltage LED systems, insuring long life and safety for children and animals. The power output of 12V lighting is tiny making it affordable. Our lighting installs are also user friendly allowing the client the freedom to add, move, change lights within our installs. We only use warm white and take care not to affect surrounding wildlife.

Wall Extensions by Landscaping.ie.
Privacy and space are very important factors within any garden setting. Wall extensions are a great, go to for both. Wall extensions provide instant screening while taking up little space.
We use planed pressure treated Scandinavian Spruce for all our wall extensions.
The pressure treated insures long life. The planed allows for easy adhesion of paint.
The Spruce is a slow growing softwood again insuring long life.
When planning, it's important to consider wind exposure. Extensions can act like a sail so permeability, to wind is important.
