The planning rules changed on the 27th of July, and a lot of people still haven't caught up. 🏡

Garden sheds, offices and gyms: the limit went from 25m² up to 30m².
And there's a brand new one - a small detached home in the back garden, 32m² to 45m², no planning permission needed until the end of 2030.

It's the question we get asked on nearly every site visit in Dublin. The short answer for most gardens? No - as long as you stay under 25m², below 4m height (pitched) or 3m (other), and keep it behind the building line.
