Here's an important regulatory update for any company that installs, maintains or repairs powered gates in the Republic of Ireland.
The Private Security Authority (PSA) has confirmed that the new standard PSA 80:2025 will be launched on 31st October 2025.
From this date:
• New contractors entering the sector will be required to hold a PSA licence in the category “Installer of Security Equipment – Powered Gates” and will also be required to undergo audit and certification to PSA 80:2025.
• Existing contractors (who currently hold a PSA licence in the Installer of Security Equipment – Access Control category) will be required to undergo a PSA 80 audit at their next licence renewal date.

Here we go again! We're rolling out another Abloy Escape Door System installation, this time for a school that’s got a special area for students with Special Educational Needs. Safety first, right?

These escape doors come with an EN13637 compliant delayed escape system—fancy lingo for "hold your horses!" If someone gets a little too eager and pulls the break glass, the door takes a leisurely 15-second pause before it unlocks. It’s like the door saying, “Whoa there, buddy! Let’s think this through.” But don’t worry, if the access system or fire alarm goes off, it’s all systems go—immediate unlocking!

And let’s not forget, these EDS systems are not just for schools; they’re also perfect for retail and other public spaces. They help deter those sneaky shoplifters and other anti-social behaviors. So while we’re making sure everyone can escape safely, we’re also giving would-be troublemakers a run for their money! Who knew safety could be this witty?

Ah, the classic Irish summer: where you can experience all four seasons before lunch! But fear not, because even the rain can't dampen our enthusiasm—or our ability to install fabulous gates! We are always very excited to support and promote women's sports events, especially as we have some very sporty daughters in the Screenguard family.
