Budget 2027 allocates €20.3 billion to capital investment next year, up €1.1 billion on 2026. That money flows into water networks, rail, roads, waterways and energy upgrades across the country.

Ireland must prepare for climate extremes, CCAC warns: Ireland must stop treating floods, storms, droughts and extreme heat as individual emergencies and begin preparing systematically for a climate of increasingly severe extremes, the Climate Change Advisory Council has warned.

It said the country’s preparations are failing to keep pace with the growing risks, with 31 of 54 major flood-relief schemes prioritised eight years ago still at preliminary design stage and major schemes taking an average of 11 years to complete. https://www.rte.ie/news/2026/0929/1593286-climate-change/

🌙 Culture Night is finally here and Drogheda has a great programme tonight!

While we work across the country every day, our business is firmly rooted in the heart of Drogheda. Most of us live locally, and it's genuinely nice to see the town lit up for an evening like this. If you're around, here are a few things worth a look – all free:

🔹 Boyne TradFest kicks off at the Highlanes Gallery at 19:10 with Antóin Mac Gabhann and Caitlín Nic Gabhann, and the trad sessions move on around the town's bars afterwards.

🔹 The Céilí Evening with Hands4Unity at the Barbican Centre runs from 16:00 to 20:00.

🔹 Lourdes Brass Band are doing Brass After Dark at the Sarsfield Bar at 20:00.

🔹 Boomerang Café is turning into a print studio for the evening (17:30 to 21:30).

🔹 And Droichead Arts Centre's Night Moves takes over later – light projections, Sunil Sharpe at Old Abbey Lane, Oíche Blas do Theanga at Odd Mollies and plenty more.

So, get out, bring a friend, have a pint or a coffee in town while you're at it.

Some images from our servicing works and project support visits with the Met Eireann teams on their ISMON projects. The Irish Soil Moisture Monitoring Network is a network of 10 sites equipped with state-of-the-art technology to monitor soil moisture conditions in real time and over the long term. These sites will cover the major soil types, land uses and climatic regimes in Ireland.This observation network complements Met Éireann’s existing weather station network, and other existing monitoring networks such as the Teagasc Agricultural Catchments Programme and the National Agricultural Soil Carbon Observatory (NASCO) network, the Terrain AI project, the UCD Long-term Grazing Platform at UCD Lyons Research Farm and the Irish Farmers Journal Tullamore Demonstration Farm.
