As we wrap up Week 1 of the Construction Industry Federation Safety Campaign 2026, hereโ€™s a look at how teams across Clancy Construction have been putting Back to Basics into action.

The week began with a company-wide online address from our Managing Director, John Oโ€™Shaughnessy, alongside Tom Regan, Safety/Environmental Manager, reinforcing our shared responsibility for safety.

Young Persons toolbox talks across our sites encouraged conversations about recognising risks and working safely, alongside sessions on working at height and abrasive wheel safety at selected locations.

Activities included crane safety talks with Mick Norton at St Vincentโ€™s Private and Beacon Hospital, an ESB safety talk with Emer Murphy at Beacon, and a Groundforce workshop and practical demonstration on trench control equipment at Westside Apartments. At UHL, supervisors focused on tool tethering.

Teams joined an online presentation from Claire Mulholland, ESB Public Safety Manager, reinforcing awareness of electrical hazards and the importance of everyday checks.

The week rounded off with a safety talk from Marian Deasy at Beacon Hospital, bringing another opportunity to reflect, learn and keep safety front of mind.

Through the campaignโ€™s five themes: Critical Risks, Health and Wellbeing, Frontline Workers, Leadership, and Beyond Compliance - the message remains clear: getting the basics right, every day, helps keep everyone safe.

September has been another strong month across our sites, with our contractors continuing to demonstrate the commitment, teamwork and high standards that make a real difference to our projects every day.

On Friday night, Clancy Construction Managing Director John Oโ€™Shaughnessy joined business leaders across Ireland for Focus Irelandโ€™s Shine A Light campaign, sleeping out at Cork Gaol to raise awareness and vital funds in the fight against homelessness.

With more than 5,500 children in Ireland growing up without a home, the need for action has never been more important. Behind every statistic is a child missing out on the simple things many of us take for granted โ€“ a quiet place to do homework, friends coming over, family meals together and the security of a safe place to call home.

Pictured alongside Julia Purcell from Focus Ireland, John was proud to play his part in supporting this important cause.

The sleepout may be over, but the opportunity to make a difference isn't.

Earlier this summer, our Construction Director, Cormac Smith, alongside his daughter Emily and sons Odhran and Fionan, took to the skies with the Irish Parachute Club in County Offaly for a very special skydive in memory of Cormacโ€™s beloved sister, Berni.

After losing Berni to lung fibrosis, her family wanted to honour her memory by raising awareness of this life-limiting condition while supporting the vital work of the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association, which provides support and information to people living with lung fibrosis and their families.

We are delighted to share that their incredible fundraising efforts raised an amazing โ‚ฌ8,002.

This week, at our Westside site in Cork, Cormac had the pleasure of presenting the cheque to Martin Troy of the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association, marking the culmination of a truly meaningful fundraising effort.

A huge congratulations to Cormac, Emily, Odhran and Fionan, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and donated. What began with a leap from a plane became a wonderful tribute to Berniโ€™s memory and will help make a real difference to people and families affected by lung fibrosis.

Last Friday, our teams across Clancy sites and offices swapped their usual colours for club, county and team jerseys in support of GOAL Jersey Day.

From GAA and football to rugby and everything in between, there was no shortage of team pride or friendly rivalry throughout the day!

Clancy Construction was delighted to attend the MTU Careers Fair 2026 at the MTU Arena, Bishopstown, Cork on Thursday.

Representing Clancy Construction on the day were Cathriona Walsh and Duncan Nugent from our HR Team, who had the opportunity to meet with students, graduates and postgraduates and chat about career opportunities within Clancy Construction.

Events like this are a great opportunity for us to connect with emerging talent, share an insight into life at Clancy Construction and discuss the diverse career paths available across the construction industry whilst also having some fun along the way!

Earlier this week, Site Supervisor Safety Training was delivered by Nationwide Safety Training (NST) at Beacon Hospital and Ard Griffin, Midleton, for supervisors from our subcontractor companies.

The training was designed to ensure supervisors working across Clancy projects have the knowledge and skills to effectively manage health & safety, risk, leadership and their teams on site.

A total of 24 subcontractor supervisors completed the training, strengthening the standard of supervision across our projects and supporting greater subcontractor engagement in the management of safety on site.

This initiative represents another important step in our ongoing commitment to improving safety standards and reinforcing a strong safety culture across all Clancy projects.

It was great to see such positive participation from our subcontractor partners. Well done to Tom Regan and the entire EHS team for driving this important initiative and bringing it to fruition.

A great moment for St Patrickโ€™s Ballyoughter U14 footballers as they received their new Clancy-sponsored gear bags.

Two years on from winning the U12 County Final, the boys reached another fantastic milestone, progressing to U14 level and contesting the Football County Final last Thursday.

Presenting the gear bags to the players was Clancy Commercial Manager & Associate Director Gary Curley, alongside his daughter Hannah.

Clancy is delighted to support Clg Naomh Padraig and the next generation of players in the local Wexford community.
