From hot water bottles and space heaters to a warm, energy-efficient workplace ✨

The Hope Foundation office in Ballinlough has undergone a huge transformation. What was once a cold, drafty building is now a cosy and comfortable space for the team - and they’re already seeing savings on their energy bills.

Here’s what we upgraded:

✔️ External wall & cavity insulation

Today is 🐾 and we’re celebrating with a throwback to our work with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind last year.

For 50 years, they’ve been transforming lives, and we’re proud to have played a small part in supporting their mission.

Through the Community Fund, we supported a grant and funding facilitation that helped deliver meaningful, energy-efficient upgrades across their Cork campus.

Here’s what changed:

✅ Wall and attic insulation
✅ Building Management System (BMS)
✅ Energy monitoring systems
✅ Solar PV panels
✅ EV charging points
✅ Insulated kennels and dog accommodation

These improvements have made the site more efficient, comfortable and future-ready - so the team can focus on what matters most 💚

Retrofit in progress!

Today we went behind-the-scenes to give you a sneak peak of this full home retrofit in Cork.

That means:
✨ New windows & doors
✨ Upgraded insulation
✨ Replacing the old boiler with a heat pump
✨ Solar panel installation

Step 1? Windows & doors! This morning, our team removed the old single-glazed units and are installing double-glazed windows — a game changer for keeping heat in the home.

We’ll be sharing every stage of this transformation, from start to finish. Follow along to see the final result!

We were delighted to partner with SECAD Partnership CLG - SECAD to deliver our first two Home Energy Audit workshops in East Cork last week 🙌

A big well done to Emma Walker and Jason Collins for hosting the sessions at MY Place Midleton and Brú na Sí Cultural Centre (Youghal).

The workshops focused on practical and accessible ways to improve energy efficiency at home, including:

✅ Live demonstrations of home energy assessment kits (available to borrow from libraries nationwide)
✅ Simple, low-cost steps to reduce household energy use
✅ Clear explanations of retrofit measures and how they can improve comfort and reduce energy bills
✅Guidance on available grants and how we support homeowners through the application process

It was fantastic to see such strong engagement and interest in creating warmer, more energy-efficient homes across East Cork 💚
