Weekly Home Heating Oil Price Update 🔥

Folks, unfortunately sky-high refined oil market prices have made this our dearest home heating oil update since April.

Not the direction any of us want to see, especially as we start moving further into September.

Thankfully, temperatures are still relatively mild for now - so hopefully there’s a break in the market before the proper colder days arrive.

In the meantime, our Oil Payment Plan €10 stamps are available and can be a handy way to start building up a wee pot towards your next fill.

A few stamps a week between now and then could make a real difference when winter properly lands.

“That’s progress…” 😅

We stumbled across this tweet a couple of weeks ago and honestly… we thought it was brilliant advertising for our Derry Parcel Drop-Off Service.

The new customs charges introduced back in July have already caught plenty of people out - and as we’ve mentioned before, these charges are expected to rise again in November.

Between the customs charge, admin fees, VAT and everything else that can be added on, a small online order can suddenly become a lot more expensive than expected.

So here’s your reminder 👇

Quick Oil Tank Check Reminder; As we start looking towards autumn and winter, now is a good time to keep an eye on your heating oil level before the colder evenings properly creep in and are suddenly just here!

Two quick ways to check:

👊 The Quick Knock Test
Tap down the side of your tank - a hollow sound usually means empty space, while a dull thud can indicate where the oil level is.

📏 The Reliable Dipstick Method
Use a clean wooden stick, dip it carefully into the tank, and check the wet mark to see your oil level more accurately.

If you’re getting low, it might be worth planning your autumn / winter top-up before you’re caught short.

Well there we have it… introduce a new charge and all of a sudden, not even 4 months later, it’s already looking like it’s going up 😅

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬!!!

Folks, 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, the current ( and recently introduced )€3 per unique item customs charge on packages coming from outside the EU is expected to have an additional handling fee added - bringing it closer to €5 per item, before you even think about VAT, charges or any other fees.

That means your:
📱 Phone accessories
👗 SHEIN orders
📦 Temu hauls
🚗 Car bits
🐶 Pet toys
🎁 Random online bargains

Could all get a lot dearer, very quickly.

And remember - it’s based on the unique item count, not just the total value of the parcel.

So if your parcel has 5 different items, that could be around €25 in charges before any other costs are added !!
