Ireland’s energy infrastructure landscape is changing rapidly — and County Meath is positioning itself at the centre of that transition.
Meath County Council has now launched a formal Call for Expressions of Interest for lands suitable for zoning as a future Green Energy Park. The initiative is focused on identifying strategic locations capable of integrating:
⚡ Renewable energy generation
🔋 Energy storage
🏭 Large energy users
🌍 Sustainable low-carbon infrastructure
This follows the completion of the independent strategic study carried out by Infranua & ENVARQ (formerly Engenuiti), which assessed optimal locations for co-locating energy infrastructure and large-scale industrial demand. (consult.meath.ie)
The study identified a major opportunity for Ireland to proactively plan for:
• Energy-intensive industry
• Data centre and advanced manufacturing demand
• Grid resilience and energy security
• Low-carbon industrial expansion
• Strategic infrastructure-led zoning
For landowners, investors, developers and infrastructure stakeholders, this represents a significant opportunity to engage early in what could become one of Ireland’s most strategically important energy and industrial planning initiatives.
