The grant for business solar just doubled .....and this one has a deadline 👇
On 6 October, SEAI raised the Non-Domestic Microgen Grant to an effective 45% of eligible costs, up from roughly 23%.
The maximum grant went from €162,600 to €325,200.
It covers businesses, farms, schools, community centres, public sector bodies and non-profits, on systems from 1kWp right up to 1,000kWp.
But read the conditions before you file this under "later":
-New applications only, from 6 October 2026
-Existing applications will NOT be uplifted; state aid rules don't permit it
-If works have already started, you can't claim the higher rate
-The window closes 6 July 2027
That last date sounds comfortable until you map out the sequence. Quotes, a signed contract, the application, waiting on your letter of offer, and then the ESB Networks connection application, which takes a minimum of 20 working days before anyone can start installing.
Worth saying plainly: solar suits most businesses better than it suits most homes. A house is empty at midday when generation peaks. A dairy, a workshop, a hotel or an office is not. Your demand and your generation line up, and the more you use on site instead of exporting, the better the numbers stack up.
We've created a full breakdown in our blog: the banded rate table, who qualifies, and the step-by-step process.

If your electricity bill runs into the thousands each month, it's worth a conversation now rather than in 2027.
