Millimeter House Kahyangan
Desa Buduk, Mengwi, Badung, Bali
—
MMHouse Kahyangan, located in Desa Buduk, Bali, showcases a modern architectural approach with a dominant wooden louvre façade that balances privacy and connection with nature. Situated in front of a river and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, the house responds to the tropical climate by maximising natural ventilation and soft natural lighting.
The house spans 110 square meters and is designed with a narrow footprint but optimises vertical space with its three-story layout. The operable wooden louvres allow the inhabitants to adjust the amount of sunlight and airflow as needed, creating a flexible living environment.
The master bedroom sits on the ground floor, designed as a private sanctuary. Operable wooden panels allow sunlight and airflow to shift throughout the day, creating a façade that adapts to both climate and privacy.
Designed to live with nature, not against it, the house weaves natural materials and sustainable strategies into a contemporary tropical home.
