ProfiKomp Environmental Technologies Inc. ProfiKomp® Group is one of the leading enterprises in Europe in the field of providing biowaste treatment technologies and engineering services.

Since 2000 ProfiKomp® has been the cooperating partner and supplier of W.L. GORE® & Associates GmbH, the company that has developed and produced the market leader GORE® Cover laminates used in composting and other biological treatment processes(soil remediation, stabilizing, biodrying). This special semi-permeable ePTFE membrane is the key element of the PROFIKOMP® waste treatment technology. ProfiKomp® has partnered collaborated with municipalities, waste and sewage treatment companies in its design, consulting, and construction activities in Hungary as well as abroad. ProfiKomp® has managed their biological waste utilization activities from design through the procurement of necessary technological elements to putting plants into operation. ProfiKomp® experts have put more than 60 waste treatment plants into operation in Hungary, numerous European Union and other countries. Using diverse raw materials and biodegradable wastes, these plants now produce valuable soil improvement and yield-enhancing products. Besides this, ProfiKomp® is also a market leader in the field of mechanical-biological waste treatment. We have outstanding references for stabilizing and/or drying residual (mixed) municipal solid waste, which, without exception, satisfy disposal limit values (AT4, GB21, TOC) and energetic parameters (moisture content, calorific value) in any given country. ProfiKomp® also places great emphasis on research and development projects. Accordingly, it has participated in several international and Hungarian R+D projects in which it carried out innovation activities in cooperation with various companies, universities and research institutes. In order to disseminate scientific knowledge, novel technological solutions and opportunities in waste management as well as to present R+D+I results, ProfiKomp® has published several professional books, textbooks and other publications. Besides, we cultivate a good working relationship with professional organizations, research institutes and scientific centres canters in Hungary, Europe and overseas. For more than two decades, the ProfiKomp® Group has been developing technologies that turn biodegradable waste into a valuable resource. Composting and dry-fermentation are at the core of what we do, so the circular economy isn’t just a buzzword for us, it’s our everyday work.

That’s why we were especially pleased that this year the Circular Economy Hotspot was held in Hungary for the first time. The event brought Europe’s circular economy frontrunners to Budapest: companies, innovators, policymakers and thinkers. On the final day, we had the honour of welcoming a delegation to our site in Gödöllő as part of the official site visit programme.

The visit began with a presentation by our CEO, Dr. László Aleksza, introducing ProfiKomp and our work. Our guests then saw our technologies in operation as we walked them through our site and introduced several of our solutions, from industrial-scale composting systems to BreatheBin and the Breathable Drum Composter, which bring the same approach to smaller communities and institutions. We also showed them our laboratory, where we analyse compost quality and measure odour emissions, one of the key questions for any biowaste treatment facility.

We really enjoyed the questions and discussions throughout the day, and it was great to share our experience with such an engaged and knowledgeable group. A big thank you to BCSDH for organising the event and to everyone who visited us.

A projekt tartalmának bemutatása:
A mikro-, kis- és középvállalkozások modern üzleti és termelési kihívásokhoz való alkalmazkodását segítő fejlesztések támogatása című felhívására benyújtott és támogatásra alkalmasnak minősített GINOP_PLUSZ-1.2.1-21-2021-00886 azonosítószámú pályázat keretében A Profikomp Környezettechnika Zrt. 129,57 millió forint feltételesen vissza nem térítendő támogatásban részesül.
A jelen projekt keretei között megvalósuló eszközbeszerzés – konténeres szárazfermentáló, mobil sík osztályozógép - célja egy olyan komplex üzemi rendszer létrehozása, amelyben az anyagáramok rendszerre gyakorolt hatását, a megfelelő keverési arányokat, kezelési időket (zöldhulladék, konyhai hulladék, biológiailag lebomló műanyagok) és az ideális technológia megoldásokat valós körülmények között üzemeltetjük és vizsgáljuk. A teljes rendszer eredménye egy olyan know-how felépítése, amely segíti optimalizálni a körkörös gazdaság kialakítását, üzemeltetését, energia felhasználását és energia kinyerését.

A korszerű üzleti és projekt támogató szoftverek használatának megismerésével tovább javítjuk digitális felkészültségünket, illetve elsajátítjuk az eredményes projektvezetéshez szükséges módszereket. Ezen túl a hatékony irányítás fejlesztés érdekében vezetői- és menedzsment tanácsadást veszünk igénybe a projekt keretében.

A projekt az Európai Unió támogatásával, a magyar állam társfinanszírozásával valósult meg.

Energy costs are rising. Composting technology doesn't have to.

The ProfiKomp® membrane-covered technologies consume just 1.5–2.8 kWh per ton of processed material — compared to 45–60 kWh/t for conventional tunnel or box composting systems. That's up to 95% less electrical power, while still meeting full hygienisation and BAT/BREF requirements.

Back in 2017, we delivered and commissioned a complete biowaste treatment system in Subotica, Serbia — 14 side wall units (25m × 6m each), covered with membranes from our then-current supplier.

ProfiKomp® x New York Café — from food waste to compost.

New York Café welcomes more than one million guests every year, generating over 250 tons of food waste annually. Instead of sending that waste down the conventional route, we partnered to close the loop — collecting the organic waste on-site, transporting it to our facility, and processing it into high-quality compost using the ProfiKomp® Breathable Drum.

IFAT Munich 2026 — thank you.

Four days, hundreds of visitors, and interest from more than 50 countries. That says more about the state of our industry than anything we could write.

It was great to meet so many familiar faces and connect with new ones — from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, America and beyond. The interest in sustainable composting solutions was stronger than ever, and the energy at our stand reflected that.
