Κάποιοι όμως έδωσαν τα πάντα.
Των υπέρ πίστεως και πατρίδος πεσόντων αιωνία η μνήμη! ☦️🇬🇷

Voluntary provision of services for the maintenance of the memorial to the heroes Gavalas Kapetanakis and Zoumas Kalorizikos in the square of Gavalochori.
We all contribute something to our community.
Some, however, gave everything.
Eternal be the memory of those who fell for their faith and their homeland! ☦️🇬🇷
The inscription reads:
“Here, in 1692, the Turks brutally murdered the freedom fighter and supplier of the fortress of Souda, the abbot of the Kera Monastery, Gavalas Kapetanakis. Then followed moments of horror: killings, looting, rapes, and abductions.
In 1750, here, Zoumas Kalorizikos suffered a martyr’s death, refusing to convert to another faith. Eternal be their memory.”
