on•entropy on • entropy is a marble atelier established in 2009 in Athens and London. NM is an architect with an academic training in design.

The studio's work ranges from product design to installations and interior design projects. Marble, an archetypal Greek material, takes on an unconventional role in on• entropy's designs; they encapsulate the contradiction of being heavy and compact and at the same time vulnerable, fragile and translucent. Its diverse character is the core of the atelier’s founding mission: to experiment with marble and its entropy; its transformation potential & inherent limitations. The result is the craftsmanship of intricate and delicate creations, evolving its diachronic qualities in an imaginative & contemporary way. Created and run by sisters Niki and Zoe Moskofoglou, on• entropy revolves around marble's resilience and diverse character. Her work demonstrates an architectural detailing and instinct of how space can surpass mere function while ZM is an environmental engineer focusing on the marriage of Cultural and Natural Heritage. NZM founded their design studio to reflect both art and craft. Pushing the boundaries of marble, they aim at settling it peacefully into itself. on• entropy works on the concept of marble, it’s about the artistry and the meticulous execution. The atelier reflects deeply the idea of entropy, with roots in the Greek ‘entropia’, which refers to ‘turning toward’ and transformation.

Quarry as a womb

For the past 15 years, we have been exploring the transformation of marble, both in a physical and a deeply sensory sense—always returning to the quarry as our starting point.

Like a womb, the quarry is a place of gestation, containment, expansion and potential, where information is held before emerging in a new state. A place where ideas are given the space to be first felt and then embodied in marble volumes. These volumes are transformed into everyday objects and then set free to metamorphose the spaces & experiences around them in unexpected ways.

Within this place and through this process, we too are transformed. Our exchanges between landscape, material, space and object offer a freeing experience—which, for us, is what creation is about.

We are grateful for the abundance of the Earth and for those who work with it, with knowledge and care—from our father, a mining consultant, to long-standing collaborators including Dionyssomarble , where our first photographs were taken in 2011.

Thank you for your trust and for welcoming us into a place where transformation is birthed.

Quarry as a womb

MC — a sculptural marble table conceived for entrance halls, private atriums and reception spaces.
Its 90 cm height gives it a ceremonial presence, recalling the earliest tables used in ancient temples as sacred surfaces for offerings. Reinterpreting this lineage, MC rests on three individually sculpted supports, each reduced to the minimum structure needed to create a balanced, grounded geometry.

The marble top is subtly concave and off-centre, catching the light and drawing the eye towards its sculptural base.

Hand-carved by master sculptors in Tinos, where marble craftsmanship is recognised by UNESCO. Exhibited in Via Cesare Correnti, Milan, and featured in Wallpaper*.

Revisiting the traditional incense burners found in Orthodox churches, Senser transforms solid marble into a translucent, visually lightweight contemporary light sculpture.

Like candlelight or a fire, Senser’s soft, diffused glow creates a sense of calm and naturally draws people together. Suspended alone above a table or arranged in a group, it creates a warm focal point around which people want to gather.   

Its presence extends beyond the object itself, shaping the atmosphere of the surrounding space.
