The refurbishment of drew inspiration from the bar’s unique identity, blending modern design elements with the neoclassical rigor of the building’s architecture. To achieve this, we introduced curvilinear forms and contemporary materials, creating a striking contrast with the building’s structured geometry.
The bar’s signature lightbox was reimagined and expanded, incorporating a bottle rack that not only visually amplifies the space but also enhances its functionality. Custom-fitted stands were placed in the corners to ensure a smooth flow throughout the interior, framing the space with soft, curving lines. Across the bar, a DJ booth was strategically positioned to establish a visual and interactive connection with the main counter.
A dedicated “study room” was introduced as a versatile area—ideal for quiet concentration in the morning and transitioning into an inviting spot for drinks at night. Precision lighting, fully adjustable to suit the time and mood, was carefully installed to transform the space from a bright and cozy brunch setting, to a dim, atmospheric hub for nightlife.
The original color palette of the venue was preserved, while new materials like wood, metal, and fabric were incorporated to enhance texture and warmth. With a decade of history and a strong presence in Petralona, the redesign honors the bar’s legacy while giving it a fresh, youthful energy— sometimes it takes a long time to become young and reinvention takes time. Every corner tells a story, every detail whispers elegance. Liako restaurant was designed to enhance the building’s traditional character while adding modern details, celebrating the timeline’s contrast. The selected color palette is pure white, allowing the light to craft its own playful story on the existing rough textures. LIAKO
