*WHEN CAMPAIGNS BECOME NOISY, WISDOM MUST SPEAK*
Over the past few weeks, I have watched our internal political campaigns with a mixture of concern and amazement.
Campaign posters are being dumped onto WhatsApp platforms in endless numbers, as though victory belongs to the person who posts the most flyers. One poster appears, and within minutes ten more follow.
Yet I keep asking myself:
To what end?
The delegates and voters we seek to influence are not counting posters. They are searching for:
• Leadership
• Vision
• Character
• Experience
• A reason to believe
Even more troubling is the growing culture of deploying young social media foot soldiers to insult, malign, and spread falsehoods about political opponents.
Every day:
• Reputations are attacked.
• Friendships are destroyed.
• Future relationships are sacrificed on the altar of temporary political gains.
But again, I ask:
To what end?
How can we preach unity while financing division?
How can we claim to be building a stronger party while tearing down the very people we may need tomorrow?
As the saying goes:
*"Unity cannot be preached and undermined at the same time."*
The Bible reminds us in Mark 3:25:
*"If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand."*
Likewise, the Holy Qur'an teaches in Surah Al-Imran 3:103:
*"Hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided."*
And the philosopher Aesop wisely observed:
*"United we stand, divided we fall."*
These truths have survived centuries because they are timeless.
*A Word to Our Young Social Media Warriors*
Be careful not to inherit enemies that are not yours.
Do not mortgage your future for temporary political excitement.
The person you are insulting today may become:
• Your boss tomorrow.
• Your colleague next year.
• Your helper when life takes an unexpected turn.
Political contests come and go, but character remains.
Loyalty is admirable, but blind hostility is dangerous.
Never become so committed to another person's political ambition that you destroy your own reputation in the process.
As an African proverb warns:
*"When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers."*
And often, those encouraging the fight are not the ones who bear the consequences.
*A Humble Appeal to Delegates*
As you prepare to make decisions, I urge you to:
• Vote beyond posters.
• Vote beyond slogans.
• Vote beyond handshakes and temporary gifts.
• Vote beyond appearances.
• Vote beyond the noise.
Instead, choose:
-Leaders who can unite rather than divide.
-Leaders with competence rather than noise.
-Leaders with experience rather than excitement.
-Leaders who can build bridges rather than walls.
-Leaders who understand that service is greater than self-interest.
Because elections are not won by flyers; they are won by trust.
Parties do not return to power because of propaganda; they return to power because of credible leadership and genuine unity.

Let us never forget this simple principle:
*The quality of leaders elected by delegates today determines the quality of leadership presented to the nation tomorrow.*
The future of our parties, our communities, and our democracy depends not on who spends the most, but on:
• Who inspires the most confidence.
• Who unites the most people.
• Who demonstrates the greatest competence.
• Who is prepared to serve the greater good.
May wisdom guide our choices.
May unity guide our actions.
May integrity guide our politics.
And may posterity judge us kindly.
