Did the ladybirds manage to eat all the aphids over the weekend?

šŸž The results of my completely unscientific experiment to see if a bunch of ladybirds shoved on my Lupins would get rid of the aphids are in.

šŸž Ladybirds 0
🪲Aphids 1

They’ve had full weekend to get stuck in, but I can’t say the ladybirds made a huge difference on this occasion.

I mean the aphids are MASSIVE.

Perhaps the ladybirds are feeling a bit like I am - they’ve overindulged all summer, enjoying the sunshine and the snacks that come with it, and now they’re looking down at their post summer body and thinking maybe we need to rein it in a bit, so we can go full throttle again in a few months? šŸ·šŸ«’

So I can’t blame them for not eating up the aphids and will instead squish them off with my fingers. I’ll see if I can recruit Sam for the job - he generally likes anything a bit gross 🤢

Talking of Sam, he starts school TOMORROW!! And Tom starts SECONDARY school!! So I’ll just be sat here, crying into my ovaries.

Aphids.

My garden hasn’t really been bothered by them this year, but I took a wander down the garden today and found them feasting on the Lupins.

So I grabbed about 10 Ladybirds and popped them on the Lupins for a banquet!

So in my head the aphids should all be gone by tomorrow…but I may be being optimistic!

Have you tried this? I don’t use any pesticides in the garden so usually I’d just squish them all off, but as we have so many ladybirds around I thought I’d see if nature can just sort the issue! Also the kids loved it 🄰

If this is the first time you’re seeing me, then follow along or you won’t see me again!

I know I do….

It’s easy to feel stuck when you’re working so hard that you don’t have time to think about how to make your business work better for you.

Which is why I’m now offering 1:1 mentoring for gardening business owners.

It’s for you if you’re thinking about starting a gardening business, you’ve recently started one, or you’ve been doing it for a while but feel like you’ve hit a bit of a wall.

Because the thing I’ve realised from talking to so many gardening business owners is that it’s usually not a lack of information that’s the problem.

You can find endless advice online about pricing, getting clients, social media, bookkeeping, what to put on your website…

The tricky bit is working out what YOU actually need to do next.

What should you focus on first?

Are you charging enough?

Should you be saying yes to this job?

How do you actually build a business that makes enough money without taking over your entire life?

That’s the bit I want to help with.

I’m calling it Grow With Charlotte 1:1 Mentoring and I’m opening up a small number of spaces.

Tell me a little bit about where you’re at with your gardening business.

I started my gardening business by accident - I had no business experience and no real clue what I was doing! Which meant I made mistakes and learnt everything through trial and error.

In the last 12 months I’ve developed a mentoring programme to help new and aspiring garden business owners, so you can avoid the mistakes I made and develop your business with confidence and clarity. I’m now developing a new way to work with people on a 1-1 basis and I’m really excited about! It means we can delve deeper into what’s holding you back and how to make self employed life work for you.

If you’d like to know more, comment below or slide into my DMs and I’ll send you the details šŸ’„

I just want to make a genuine recommendation for Famileo UK & Ireland - I came across this company over a year ago. You upload photos, with descriptions, and they put them all into a paper gazette that’s then posted to your nominated person.

Both my parents love looking through photo albums we’ve done, but I find they take a lot of time to put together. As this is monthly, I find it simpler and quicker to do. I also find it’s better for my Mum, as she’s more likely to remember that we’ve just been to Wales for example. I make sure I include our names and a brief description to help. My Dad puts them all in a folder to keep.

Anyway, this isn’t an ad - I’m not that important 🤣 but I hope someone finds this useful!
