Happy National Hummingbird Day to my followers in the US! I really wish we had them in the UK, but I have really enjoyed seeing photographs of these beautiful tiny creatures from afar and painting them with permission from wildlife photographers.

Hummingbirds are special to me, they were one of the first paintings I sold (last image) and they are just so delicate and vibrant - something which I strive to capture in each piece. Images 2-4 were my auctioned pieces for Heart Research UK last year, when I was honoured to participate in their Anonymous HeART auction - keep your eyes peeled this October in case my work makes it in this year! 👀

Which is your favourite type of hummingbird? It may be the type I paint next 😊

I visited Beningbrough - National Trust this weekend, and had a lovely walk through the gardens and by the river - but was disappointed not to see the famous Tansy beetles, they should be abundant at this time of year (and hopefully there were loads nearer the river I couldn’t see) - I’m hoping the hot weather hasn’t impacted them too much. I did see a ladybird larvae (for the first time) which was interesting, they seem to be thriving this year 🐞

If you haven’t heard of Tansy beetles before, they’re sometimes called “the Jewel of York”, a tiny emerald green beetle living on Tansy plants, designated as “Nationally Rare” in the UK and only found in York on the banks of the River Ouse (see third photo, captured by my husband in July).

But not to worry if you can’t see the Tansy beetles in the wild, you can find them in the Beningborough Hall shop instead! Here are my 6 designs now on sale at the shop based on wildlife and flowers you can find close to Beningborough Hall, including these beetles, along with many other designs from talented local artists. Why not have a browse next time you visit!

Did you know that water lilies (and delphiniums) are the birth month flowers for July? I thought it may be a lovely way to mark the occasion 🌸
(If this or another flower is something you’d like me to create for a special birth or birthday, do get in touch)

Happy (belated) International Dog Day! 🐾
I hope you and your furry friends enjoyed it 😊

Dogs are one of my favourite animals to paint, they can have so much character and personality and can get up to lots of mischief (but are also too cute to be mad at!) It’s an honour to be able to capture all of this in a unique personalised pet portrait for pet parents ❤️ just get in touch if you’d like one.

Here’s a photo of my dog Jess on a recent holiday - the countryside is her happy place 🥰 I actually haven’t painted her portrait yet (and we’ve had her a year now!) but I have promised to very soon…

I’m excited to announce that a selection of my card designs are now available to purchase from the Beningbrough - National Trust Hall Gift Shop ❤️ These designs are all inspired by the wildlife that can be found around the Hall itself and in its grounds.

Beningborough Hall is one of my favourite places to visit with my dog, it has stunning gardens, extensive grounds and delicious cake! It’s also very close to York, well worth a visit if you are in the area. Last time I visited I also saw this beautiful butterfly, which may inspire a future design 😊

That’s a wrap for York River Art Market 2026! I did twice as many days this year and had twice as much fun 🎉 Despite some very hot days, and a surprisingly wet day, thanks to the visitors, organisers, fellow stallholders and volunteers, plus a beautiful riverside location made my days at YRAM 2026 some of my best and most fun market days ever 🎉

We so appreciate the support from visitors, some of whom hadn’t been before and others were YRAM regulars. The market brings a lovely vibe to the city and we’re also so grateful for all the work Caroline Happy Pot Mama did to host it in 2026 ❤️ Here’s to YRAM 2027 🙌
