Every year, the Sherborne Classic Car Show is one of the highlights of my calendar. It's always a brilliant event, packed with incredible vehicles, great conversations, and a real sense of community. I know so many people have been looking forward to it this weekend, and I'm sure it's going to be another fantastic show.

This year I'll be giving it a miss but for a very special reason. On the very same day, we're having our son christened, so family comes first on this occasion not cars !

I hope everyone attending has an amazing day. Enjoy the cars, take plenty of photos, and make the most of what is always one of Sherborne's best events. We'll definitely be back next year!

It's been a warm one this week! 🥵☀️

I've been spending a fair bit of time replacing a couple of consumer units for local homeowners.

If you've ever stood in a hallway cupboard, under the stairs, with a consumer unit open while it's 30 degrees outside, you'll know it's not exactly the coolest place to be! 😅

That said, it got me thinking.

A lot of people don't start thinking about their electrics until winter arrives. The heating goes on, the tumble dryer gets used more often, the oven is working overtime, and before you know it the electrical system is under far more demand. That's why summer can actually be a great time to think about a consumer unit upgrade.

Your consumer unit is the heart of your home's electrical system. It's there to help protect your family and property if a fault develops, and modern consumer units offer a much higher level of protection than many older installations.

I'm not saying everyone needs a new consumer unit. Far from it.

But if yours is getting on a bit, or you've been wondering whether it's time for an upgrade, now is a good opportunity to get it checked.

Has your home's wiring been coping with the recent heat? ☀️

With the hot weather we've had recently, many homes have been working harder than usual.

Fans running all day, portable air conditioning units, extra fridge and freezer use, chargers plugged in everywhere, and extension leads doing overtime.

Most electrical systems seem to cope perfectly well, but if your wiring is older or hasn't been checked for a long time, the extra demand can sometimes highlight underlying issues.

That's one of the reasons an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a good idea.

An EICR is a thorough health check of your home's electrical installation. It helps identify things like:

⚡ Ageing wiring
⚡ Overloaded circuits
⚡ Damaged accessories
⚡ Poor connections
⚡ Potential safety concerns before they become bigger problems

Many homeowners don't think about their electrics until something stops working. An EICR can provide peace of mind that everything is safe and working as it should.

This week has absolutely flown by and somehow it's already Friday! ☀️

We'd love to do something nice with the family this weekend, but we're completely out of ideas.

With the weather set to stay hot for at least another week 🥵we're especially looking for places where we can keep cool with the kids while still making the most of the weekend.

With all the hot weather we’ve had in Yeovil recently, it's got me thinking, What do we really remember the most about our summers growing up?

Long school holidays.
Playing outside until dark.
The smell of cut grass.
And someone’s dad burning sausages on the BBQ.

Looks like we’ve got some warmer weather on the way. ☀️
Perfect timing for a stroll through one of our lovely local parks, letting the kids burn off some energy, or just enjoying five quiet minutes outside with a coffee.

We’re lucky to have some great green spaces around Yeovil, and as a local family-run business, we love seeing the community out and about making the most of them.
