Today feels particularly poignant, as this would have been Thea’s first day at school, heading in for the first time in her uniform.

This Sunday I’ll be swapping lawns for Lycra and taking on the London to Brighton bike ride.

I’m doing it in memory of Thea, the daughter of some very close friends and also a friend of my son Max, who is pictured here with Thea.

Thea sadly passed away last year, aged just two.

We’re raising money for St George’s Hospital, whose team cared for Thea, and hopefully helping to give something back in her memory.

I’ve been putting the miles in over the last few months and, with the ride now only days away, it’s all starting to feel very real.

If anyone would like to support me, however big or small the donation, it would be hugely appreciated.

Three weeks since the seed went in 🌱💚💜
This is the stage where patience really matters. You can see the lawn starting to knit together, but it’s still very much in its early days. There’s good coverage coming through, with a few thinner patches that will continue to fill in over the next few weeks with the right care.
Right now it’s all about:
• Keeping it consistently watered (not letting it dry out)
• Staying off as much as possible
• Letting the roots establish before the first cut
It’s always tempting to rush this stage… but this is where the quality of the end result is decided.

A year apart… and this is the difference 👇
What you’re looking at isn’t luck.
It’s not constant heavy work either.
It’s simply getting the renovation right from day one… and then maintaining it properly.
➡️ Year 1: tired, thin, struggling lawn
➡️ Year 2: dense, healthy, consistent quality
Once the foundation is right, it’s just little and often:
✔️ Seasonal treatments
✔️ Correct feeding
✔️ Light maintenance
✔️ Letting the lawn do its thing
No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just a proper system that works.
This is exactly why we focus on doing things properly from the start — because it makes everything easier (and better) long term.

Day two of our spring lawn renovation window… and the sun certainly had his hat on ☀️
Scarification well underway here — stripping out a serious amount of thatch to open the lawn up, improve airflow, and create the perfect seedbed for what comes next.
It might look a bit brutal now… but this is where the magic starts.
Remove the dead material ➡️ get air and light into the soil ➡️ set the lawn up for strong, healthy growth.
A few weeks from now, this will be a completely different lawn.
Spring slots are now full — we’re booking ahead for September renovations, but we can still get you on the remaining seasonal treatments to get your lawn moving in the right direction 🌱
