In the meantime , here are some garden maintenance jobs to do in February/March….
1.Hedge cutting/renovation. Prune and shape hedges before the spring nesting season.
2.Mulch beds with organic material to retain moisture and prevent annual weeds. Mulching will also improve the soil structure.
3.Install water butts ready for the summer season.
4. Prune apple trees.
5.Clean pots and greenhouses.
Removing algae allows in more light and helps control pests and diseases.
6.Clean out fallen leaves and debris from ponds
7.Clean patios,decks and garden furniture
8.plant bare root hedges , shrubs and trees
9.Soil preparation. Dig over borders.
10.Tidy borders and plant up winter containers.
