Last week was work experience for the year 10s at The Chantry School. Olivia chose to do her week with me, she worked really hard, impressing both me and my customers. She did really well, I am very proud of her, out of my four children she is definitely the one who shows the most natural aptitude. We were at several job sites where she applied herself equally well to the tedium and unpleasant odour of oiling beams as to the fun of creating an Aston Villa themed room. Sadly she doesn't think it's the career for her, but who knows what the future holds.

Another fireplace for the same customers as the one last year, they loved the transformation so much that we've done similar in the next room.
Green smoke on the skirting and walls with lime paint on the fireplace.
Also a shot of the ceiling because I'm pleased with how it turned out. Previously plastered by someone with their eyes closed it had more peaks and troughs than a rollercoaster (or a bar of Toblerone). After raking out and scrimming the cracks I double coated the whole ceiling with a roll on filler before a light sand and applying emulsion.

There's something really satisfying about completing a hand painted kitchen. When they first said that they wanted the kitchen cupboards and the walls painted in the same dark blue I was a little unsure and questioned how well it would work, but as you can see the answer was it would turn out as absolutely stunning.

A very long overdue redo of our old dining room table. As you can see the original finish had all but worn off and it looked really tatty. Still needs a final coat of varnish to increase its durability but after a bit of experimenting with different colours I'm pleased with how it turned out. Also please excuse the mess🙈, I probably should have cleared up Riley's shredded cardboard before I took photos but when you are living in the middle of building work the mess never seems to end🤷

Just a small injection of colour can really change the feel of a space, acting like a "pop" of energy or a focal point, immediately shifting the mood without needing a massive renovation. People are often reluctant to paint exposed wood thinking it needs to be left a 'natural' wood colour but see how it's gently softened the space making this lounge feel more calming and relaxing.
