n. I believe everyone should have their own happy place regardless of its size from a balcony to a large outdoor space and would love to talk to you to see how I could assist in creating or improving yours. I offer softscaping services across Worcestershire which includes anything on the plant side of things from general garden maintenance and upkeep, to border and flower bed design/redesign including creating plant plans specific to your own space to sourcing plants and installing them into newly created borders and/or food growing spaces as well as into existing growing spaces. I can offer consultation on how best to improve your own growing space whether for food or ornamental plants, with or without ongoing assistance, and have offered various talks over the last few years to the public on all manner of gardening topics including how to introduce wildlife, how to improve your soil, how to grow food, how to upkeep a garden. I love what I do and love being outdoors, so please do get in touch if you have a project in mind, I would be happy to offer a consultation to see where we go from there.

Project regenerate this kitchen garden is going well so far, I'm visiting 1 or 2 days a week atm.

Part of a larger ongoing project to take control back of the whole garden with a huge 36m long x 6.5m overgrown central border, walled garden borders and several other borders and garden areas with mature shrubs and trees.

It's both an exciting and challenging project and one that will see change happen over time. I am plant planning for sections as I am clearing space and then planting into them as well as pruning/trimming overgrown shrubs as I travel through each space.

The kitchen garden is particularly exciting due to my love of growing food, there will be circa 45 dahlias in the front bed and the plan is to the line and edge the central beds with roses including 4 climbers over 2 arches as well as to growing food currently tomatoes, lettuces, strawberries and potatoes are in.

There is a huge amount of bindweed in the garden which I am digging out as much root of as is possible given the garden is heavily planted with large shrubs and trees. An ongoing battle but one that will become easier with time as the bindweed weakens.

Mulching is paramount not just to slow releases feed into the soil that has been left unfed for several years but to inhibit the small weaker weeds from germinating and of course to retain moisture now Summer is here.

I'll continue to add updates every few weeks or so to record the changes 😊

Project regenerate and create borders in this gorgeous side garden started last week. I went in for a couple of days to overhaul this overgrown area including Summer pruning a wild wisteria. I even found a couple of lovely clematises hiding in amongst the dog roses that were also intermingled with a lot of bramble, ivy and holly which I dug as much of the root as possible.

My lovely client has requested I return for 1-2 days a month to build upon this project and to maintain it which is great. Next month I'll be building a small rockery and then in July cutting out a border to underplant the now tied in roses and clematis. Very exciting as this is a full sun area of the garden though very dry so the planting scheme will be made up of pollinator friendly drought tolerant plants such as salvia, nepeta, echinacea, penstemon, erigeron and gaura.

If you are based in or around Worcestershire and have areas of your garden that you are seeking to be regenerated into something beautiful via a new planting scheme and whether in one go or over a period of time please do get in touch with me.

Have a great weekend, Sam 😊

Made a start on this lovely garden last week, I will be redeveloping several areas over a period of time including this end corner which has been mulched with a rotted manure and straw blend from and turned into a cute vegetable patch. I weeded the whole area, trimmed back the conifer hedge to allow for more light to get in and repurposed a couple of my clients dead plum tree branches for cucumber supports for a more natural look.

I will be returning to reinstate several borders and to take back control of several large shrubs and to work on a beautiful shaded seating area, which I am planning to turn into something special via plantingfor my client to enjoy.

If you would like help to create an area to grow food or to grow food in amongst your flowers borders in a more edimental way please get in touch with me.

You don't need a huge space to grow food but having the right soil and light conditions really does help dependent on what you plan to grow and I can certainly help with this including planning the layout and what to plant when.

Another brilliant Designer I had the pleasure of meeting at RHS Malvern is the very talented Jamie Dobinson of landscape and garden design practice Crafted Landscapes with his incredible show garden 'The Crafted Garden'.

The spiral design, inspired by an unfurling fern symbolising protection, renewal and growth. Honest natural materials are celebrated curving towards a wildlife pond and seating area in the centre.

I particularly loved the craftmanship of the stunning moon gates, canopies and the sympathetic tree led woodland planting including many tree ferns, ferns, hostas and other perennials all supporting biodiversity.

What a first time out show garden design for Jamie, who is a genuinely nice person and was happy to offer me advice and also insight into how his design came about ➡️

Thank you Jamie it was great to meet you and congratulations on your Bronze award 🙌

'Tîr' meaning Land or Landscape in Welsh is a garden designed by Nick Anthony of .cambrica whose career and work focuses on planting, ecology and form.

Evoking a sense of both belonging and nostalgia, it explores the enduring relationship between land, water and the people of Wales. Structured design combined with natural processes resulting in a visual feast.

Encapsulated on 3 sides by native hedging and trees, at the entrance to the garden a cross section from a 200yr old Douglas Fir offered insight to key moments in Welsh history, the head of a Welsh dragon carved from wood with a chainsaw by a truly talented individual leads you to a path surrounded by native planting leading to a naturalistic and moving water element built by Sam Rees of , starting with a waterfall, surrounded by boulders and stone, moving water towards a sculptural pond as you would find in the stunning Welsh hills and valleys. The natural wood aspect and pergoda built by Sams wife all in keeping with the theme.

Native planting sponsored and grown by is interwoven throughout this garden to attract and support native pollinators, the focus on native planting being a sensitive nod to ensuring we do not lose focus on UK native species. And areas lushly planted with ferns as you would find when out walking in the great outdoors.

➡️ to find out what first inspired Nick to enter a show garden design for .shows 2026.

Congratulations to Nick, Sam, all the sponsors and the huge team of people and businesses behind TÎR a Welsh Landscape.

I was taken with Nicks endless passion for his work and thank him for the creative inspiration. This aspirational and achievable garden will have inspired many and I applaud him for bringing a sense of tranquility to the show with this stunning design 👏

When one of your good friends who is a genuinely all round awesome human being creates something special it deserves to be celebrated ✨️

I'm blessed to count Paul as one of my friends and had the pleasure of being part of his behind the scenes team and to supporting him on his border for a day at the show.

Paul committed to designing his first RHS border for the Malvern 2026 Spring Festival way back in Summer last year and I think we can all agree that 'Reflective Memories' was a real triumph, achieving a Silver Gilt award 👏

He built his sensory garden with his lovely Dad Keith, who combined have a wealth of experience gained from many decades of working within the horticultural sector, from both a gardening and landscaping perspective.

Keep watching for my catch up with the man himself to find out what inspired this creativity 🙌

Harrison supported with growing on many of the stunning plants, which is by no means a small feat. The colourful, pollinator friendly, traditional planting scheme looked divine in this layered and textured design, featuring a previously loved chair for the gardener to take time out to reflect on life.

Seeing Paul and his Dad build this garden from the ground up was a real joy, sheer professionalism.

Sentimental, heartfelt and well thought through, witnessing Paul's confidence soar has been a real highlight, as was getting to meet his gorgeous family who have backed him all the way.

Where next for you Paul? Watch this space 🫶✨️

And thank you for supporting me during the build by taking precious time out to watch my talk at my local garden centre ☺️

To all the wonderful people who have supported, cheered the border on, stopped by the border, inspired, helped and importantly sponsored, including good friends of Happy Place Planting and Design , and THANK YOU 💚

To , Fraser and it's been a pleasure to spend time with you as part of this wonderful team supporting Mads.

To all the other designers, landscapers, businesses, creatives and the Three Counties Showground team who were working at .shows congratulations to you all and thank you for the inspiration 🫶

Now to rest and recuperate, then to put all of the inspiration to good use within my own clients gardens.

It was a real highlight to be invited into this truly stunning Gold, Environmentally Innovative and Best in Show award winning garden 'ONE' designed by the very wonderful , built by .paving along with a brilliant team. Thank you Ian.

It is such a privilege to talk to a designer to learn about their concept, which here is to provide a nurturing space for both plants and personal wellbeing for people who both live and garden alone, there are 8 million in the UK. It's a calm, restorative and creative space. The fern growing out of a circular space cut into the seating area to offer companionship to the solo gardener really got me, such a well considered thought as is the overall planting and wildlife areas.

Heartfelt and beautifully crafted, a real triumph ✨️
