It's a good time to prune any stone fruited trees between May and July. Plums, Damsons, Cherries. These ones needed a bit of a sort out as they've never been done properly. Don't worry about the young fruit it won't fall off, or if it does there's plenty left on the other branches. Pruning now means chance of silver leaf infection is less, and new shoots will grow from the cuts, whereas in winter they won't.
