A nice day to be out inspecting thatch properties in Dorset and Wiltshire to check the safety of existing wood burning stove, open fire chimney and flue installations.
These are being done as part of annual insurance check requirements but anyone owning a property, purchasing a home or wanting to sell would be advised to have an inspection to check the safety and compliance.

You don’t need a chimney to have a woodburning stove!!!
This extension hadn’t been designed with a fireplace and chimney but that wasn’t a problem. Insulated twin wall chimney systems don’t require a masonry chimney to be installed and with their much reduced distance to combustible materials they’re an ideal solution for many properties.

With the sun coming back and the rain easing (hopefully) we can get back onto the chimneys for the rebuilding and repair works needed by our clients!
Often the forgotten part of the house, poorly maintained and damaged chimneys can lead to large number of other issues for your home.

We undertake a lot of inspections annually, whether that be for a thatch property insurance requirement, to identify a perceived problem, for a potential home purchaser to a general safety inspection.
Unfortunately, we don’t always find ‘good news’s but any issue identified and remedied can help prevent a potential fire, carbon monoxide risk or general safety concern.

Houston, we have a problem!! Don’t worry, thankfully this client called !! ✅.

Did you know stainless steel has ‘memory’ and the colouring / ‘tinting’ is the result of exposure to constant temperatures. The purple / blue tinting indicates extreme temperatures which were the result of a split on the rear flue adapter on the appliances allowing excess oxygen into the fire chamber.

Another satisfied customer!! What started as a project with a small 18” open fire has finished with a beautiful 6H wood burner that befits the room and property in the New Forest it’s installed in. It’s not just the family dog that’s pleased!!

One of the worst condition chimneys we’ve been asked to rebuild. Thankfully it was spotted before the chimney was swept.
The Tv aerials had worn the corners over the years and we had to take down and rebuild from the lead work.
On the plus side, we had good weather and in a beautiful location in the new forest.
If your chimney needs repointing, repairing or rebuilding this needs to be addressed before winter. Call us for any advice or assistance.
