Helpful tip for people considering getting an electric car, or other EV.

If you want an EV tariff,, which most people do, make sure you've got a smart meter installed and working.

Before you get the bloody car.

Yes, you can just plug them in like a kettle, hairdryer, etc... but then you pay regular tariff rates.

Between 300 and 400 percent more...

Smartmeter installs have to be scheduled with a third party, which can take many weeks, and they then have to be 'registered' to the supplier, which isn't the instant or next day simple operation you'd imagine.... They're in no rush, user crisis or not...

Nightmare.

To my mind, the vehicle sellers should be establishing that their product is entirely suitable for their customers, first off, but guess what salesmen do... Or don't do....

Don't learn the hard way.
