🔆 FRIDAY ROUND UP IS BACK! 🔆

Blimey… it feels like forever since we last did one of these, so we thought it was about time the famous (or infamous 😆) Friday Round Ups made a return!

First things first… Jon & Sam have had a cracking few weeks away in China 🇨🇳, taking in the sights, eating everything in sight, and no doubt trying to work out if there’s a market for solar panels on the Great Wall. Since getting back, it’s been full steam ahead playing catch-up with the mountain of work waiting for us!

Massive credit to Gary, Matt & Nat who have been keeping the ship afloat while we’ve been away 🚢👏 Gary holding the fort, Matt doing what Matt does best on site, and Nat making sure the office didn’t descend into chaos.

Now we’re back in the swing of it, we’re hoping to bring the Friday Round Ups back regularly… because apparently some people do actually read them 😆

🎉 A Milestone Incoming…

This May marks our 12th year in business.

And in all those years, we’ve never run the company from a bedroom, unlike many of the new solar firms we’re seeing pop up lately. We’ve always had proper premises, proper staff, proper support, and a long-term commitment to our customers.

We’re here for the long term, not the short term. Not one of these here-today-gone-tomorrow outfits throwing in low-ball prices just to disappear 12 months later when the warranty calls start rolling in.

As the saying goes… quality remains long after the price is forgotten. 👌

⚡ What we’ve been up to over the last couple of months:

🔋 A serious off-grid beast of a project
We completed an install to an aircraft hangar with a whopping 40kWp solar array, paired with a 3-phase Victron Energy system and 64kWh of Fogstar batteries.

This wasn’t “sort of off-grid”… this was true full-power off-grid living 💪☀️

🏠 Plenty of domestic installs
We’ve also been busy on homes across the Midlands with solar systems, battery storage upgrades, and helping more households cut those energy bills.

🔋 Battery-only installs
More and more people are realising batteries aren’t just for solar customers. Smart tariffs + battery storage = a winning combo.

🏛️ Hixon Memorial Hall
A lovely recent project featuring a Van der Valk flat roof mounting system, paired with a Fox ESS inverter and battery system to help keep running costs down for the community.

We’ll try not to leave it so long next time. Between installs, surveys, paperwork, breakdowns and trying to remember where Jon left his passport, it gets hectic 😆

🟡 FRIDAY ROUNDUP 🟡

Well… this week the weather has been doing what the weather does best in the West Midlands — being an absolute menace. 🌧️💨
But did it stop us? Did it heck.

We’ve still made a cracking start on a proper beast of a job — a full 3-phase off-grid system and it’s not one of those “little shed in the woods” setups either… this one’s the real deal:

⚡ 3 x Victron Quattros running the show
🔋 64kWh of Fogstar batteries for serious storage
☀️ 36kWp solar array made up of 56 x Aiko 645W panels
⛽ And because we like belts, braces, and then another belt… a 70kVA generator backup for those “just in case” moments

So while the rain’s been doing its best to slow us down, we’ve been out there building something that could probably power a small village. 😅

Behind the scenes it’s been just as manic — several site surveys to get completed, quotes to get designed and sent out, and phones that don’t seem to stop ringing. 📞📐📧

Full transparency: we’re slightly behind (cheers again, sideways rain) and with Fast Car in Bloxwich starting next week, it’s officially…

✅ BREWS ON REPEAT
✅ NO ONE MAKE PLANS ☕😂

Big push next week and we’ll get everything pulled back on track — because that’s what we do.

Right then… Friday Roundup is BACK (cue dramatic music, confetti cannons, and Gary pretending he hasn’t missed the limelight).

First up: apologies for the lack of Friday Roundups lately — we haven’t been sat in the office sipping tea and “being busy” on spreadsheets… we’ve actually been proper busy, out on site, grafting our way through some cracking installs across Staffordshire and the West Midlands, and we even went further afield to Oxford (yes, we did survive the trip… and no, Gary didn’t try to claim it as “international work”).

It’s been one of those spells where:
• The van has become our second home
• The office chair forgot what our backsides look like
• And every time someone said “quick job”, the universe laughed and added three more hours plus “one missing screw that definitely existed two minutes ago”.

Now the good news: the days are getting longer which means two things:
1. We’ll be back in the office more, replying quicker and doing more designs/quotes without needing a head torch.
2. We can actually see what we’re doing past 4pm without resorting to “Victron by candlelight”.

What we’ve been up to (aka: why we’ve been missing)

✅ Latest installs around Staffordshire & the West Midlands – roofs, lofts, cables, containment, tea offers ranging from “posh biscuits” to “you’ll have to drink it black because the milk’s gone off”.
✅ One in Oxford – lovely place, lovely people… and roughly 3,000 roundabouts.
✅ Planning + prepping for a BIG off-grid system coming up – the kind of job where you stand back at the end and go: “Right. That’s a serious bit of kit.”
✅ Fast Car in Bloxwich – yes, that one. We’re getting stuck into an install there too (and no, we’re not racing the vans… anymore).
✅ A village hall project – because nothing says “community glow-up” like solar and batteries keeping the lights on for bingo, birthdays, and that one bloke who always turns the heating up to tropical.

Honestly, it’s been chaos — the good kind. The “we’re shattered but buzzing” kind. The “how is it Friday again?” kind.

So yeah… Friday Roundups are back, and as the daylight sticks around longer, you’ll be seeing more of us in the office and less of us living like feral roof goblins.
