Grounds Maintenance Operative
Salary: £26,500–£29,500 per year

About the role
Simply Green Landscapes is looking for an experienced, reliable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and understands what is required to maintain grounds and outdoor spaces to a consistently high professional standard.
You will work across a range of sites throughout Berkshire and the surrounding counties. The role involves physical outdoor work in all weather conditions, operating grounds maintenance machinery and working independently as well as part of a team.
This is not a suitable role for someone without previous grounds maintenance, landscaping or closely related experience.
Key responsibilities
Grass cutting and lawn maintenance to a professional standard
Hedge trimming, pruning and general shrub maintenance
W**d control and general grounds upkeep
Leaf clearance and seasonal maintenance
Operating, cleaning and maintaining commercial grounds maintenance machinery and equipment
Identifying and reporting maintenance issues
Ensuring work areas are left clean, tidy and safe
Working efficiently to agreed schedules and standards
Travelling between sites as required
Winter gritting and snow clearance when required
Following company health and safety procedures at all times
Representing the company professionally when working on client sites
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
A full UK driving licence - Important: This role requires regular use of company vehicles. Due to our vehicle insurance requirements, applicants must be aged 21 or over and hold a full UK driving licence. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants who do not meet these requirements.
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening or a closely related role
Experience using grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
A good understanding of health and safety
The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual work throughout the working day
Excellent timekeeping and attendance
The ability to work unsupervised and manage your own workload
A strong work ethic and pride in the quality of your work
A professional and respectful attitude when dealing with customers and colleagues
Desirable
At least 2 years’ relevant experience
Experience using commercial mowing, strimming, hedge-cutting and other grounds maintenance machinery
Relevant horticultural or landscaping qualifications
Previous experience working across multiple commercial sites
Experience of winter gritting or snow clearance.
