🌡️ Is your home overheating in summer?
I've recently been receiving more enquiries about reducing internal overheating, especially in homes with large areas of glazing. But there are solutions.
The trend for expansive glass elevations isn't new—and it's still hugely popular. But during the increasingly hot spells we're experiencing in the UK, large areas of glazing can contribute significantly to unwanted solar heat gain. Solar heat gain occurs when sunlight transfers thermal energy into a building, primarily through windows, skylights, and glazed surfaces.
Since 2022, Building Regulations Part O has required new homes to consider overheating risk at the design stage. But what about existing properties with large south-facing windows and glazed extensions?
The reality is that there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.
