🔨 Another Skylight Replacement Completed! 🔨

Out with the old, in with the new! We’ve just completed the replacement of two old, worn skylights on a flat roof, helping to improve natural light, weather protection, and the overall appearance of the property.

The existing skylights had seen better days, so we carefully removed them and installed new, modern units with a secure, weatherproof finish. ☀️🏠

Another flat roof transformation completed! 🔨🏠

This existing flat roof was suffering from leaks, so we installed a GRP flat roof overlay system, providing a strong, durable and fully waterproof finish without the need to completely strip the existing roof.

The GRP system gives the roof a seamless finish and is designed to provide long-lasting protection against the elements. 💪

We’ll be back over the next couple of weeks to replace the roof lights, finishing the project off properly and giving this roof a complete new lease of life.

A Roof That Still Looks Brand New 🏠✨

Here’s a look back at a roofing project completed last year by our team at CAW Roofing and Guttering LTD — and honestly, the finished roof still looks like it was completed last week!

We carried out a full range of works across the property, including:

🔨 Beautiful new mortar verges.

This week we are in Reading, Berkshire cracking on with a roof replacement and condensation issues.

Another re-roof underway, addressing a failed fibre cement slate roof where the original non-breathable felt has been causing condensation to build up within the roof structure, alongside ongoing water ingress.

During our inspection, we also identified hairline cracks in the existing ridge tiles, providing another route for water to enter the roof.
The incorrect soakers have been used around the velux.

To rectify the issues correctly, we will be:

- Removing the existing failed fibre cement slates and non-breathable felt.
- Fitting the correct soakers around the velux.
- Installing new pressure-treated timber battens.
- Fitting a breathable roofing membrane to improve ventilation and help prevent future condensation.
- Reusing and reclaiming the existing ridge tiles where suitable, helping retain the character of the property.
- Addressing the areas responsible for water ingress to provide a long-term, weatherproof solution.

Using the correct breathable materials and quality workmanship is essential to ensuring the roof can perform as it should for years to come.

Another roofing project completed! 🏠

We recently removed an old, failing original slate roof that had reached the end of its life and replaced it with a brand-new Spanish slate roof. To enhance the appearance of the property, we also incorporated decorative slates, giving the roof a traditional and attractive finish.

As part of the installation, we fitted eaves protection trays and over-fascia ventilation to help improve airflow through the roof space and provide long-term protection.

We will be returning soon to replace the existing lead flashing, ensuring a complete and watertight finish. As during the works, we identified that the existing lead at the eaves was too short, so this will be addressed as part of the final stage of the project.

A great transformation that not only improves the appearance of the property but also provides a durable, weather-resistant roofing system for years to come.
