πͺ΄ Pot plant growers β Top tips for beautiful blooms in September!
Our Autumn Show has a wonderful range of pot plant classes, and two of the most popular are:
πΊ Fuchsia, bush upright (Class 56) β max pot size 25cm
πΈ Pelargonium β ivy leaf, zonal or regal (Class 57) β max pot size 22.5cm
There's also a Novice Pot Plant class (Class 61, max 17.5cm pot) β perfect if you've never shown before!
For your fuchsias:
β
Make sure they are in their final show pot size with fresh, quality compost
β
Pinch out growing tips to encourage a bushy, well-balanced shape
β
Feed them weekly with high-potash liquid
β
In late June/early July, remove all flower buds for 6β8 weeks to encourage a spectacular flush of fresh blooms for show day
For your pelargoniums right now:
β
Make sure they are in their final show pots
β
Continue weekly balanced liquid feeding, switching to high-potash in August
β
Remove any open florets approximately 3 weeks before the show to ensure fresh, full bloom heads on 12th September
Both plants reward consistent care β water, feed, groom, repeat!
All pot plants for the Autumn Show should already be in your care as of this week, but the next 12 weeks are crucial for helping them look their best on show day!
