Meet my newest studio assistant. 😂🤍

This gorgeous big sister came along to her baby sister's newborn session and was an absolute star. She helped me set up the basket, gave the props her full approval, and then sat herself right down for a sneaky photo of her own.

I photographed her as a newborn too, so having her here helping with her little sister felt really special.

Fun fact for your Friday. 👣

Babies are born with a soft little pad of fat where the arch of their foot will one day be. That's why newborn feet look so perfectly flat and squishy.

It slowly disappears over the first few years, and by around age six, the arch has usually formed. So these chubby little feet really are a fleeting thing. 🤍

Who says cake smash is just for first birthdays? 🎂

This little one has been coming to me for a cake smash every year since turning one, and now here we are at three. Bigger smiles, bigger personality, and a much better aim with the icing.

It's been such a joy watching them grow up in front of my camera. 🤍

Nobody really warns you how fast it goes.

One day you're counting tiny toes, and then suddenly those toes are running down the hallway. I remember it so clearly with my own boys.

That's why I love newborn sessions so much. They hold onto the bit that slips away the quickest. 🤍

The most wonderful time of year is on its way, and my Christmas Minis are nearly open! There's something so special about welcoming brand new families while catching up with the faces I've come to know and love, watching their little ones grow a whole year between each visit. Getting to be a small part of your Christmas every year is honestly one of my greatest joys.

These sessions are always so popular, and I'm forever grateful for the support that makes them such a highlight of my year. I've kept the price exactly where it was, just £49, and my returning full session clients have a lovely thank you discount waiting for them.

My returning full session clients, keep an eye on your inbox! You'll have your own email with your dates and everything you need to book. Any slots not booked on those dates will then be added to my VIP list to book once bookings open, so if you're not on my VIP list yet, now is the time to join.

These sessions are designed for children and babies of all ages. If your little one isn't yet sitting, a parent can join in for support, and of course, adults are always encouraged to be part of the portraits too.

Yesterday I went to lift my eldest up for a cuddle after school, the way I always have, and realised I couldn't do it anymore. He's just too big now. Somewhere along the way it happened and I didn't even notice the last time I picked him up was the last time.

Nobody warns you about that part.

When they're newborn, everyone tells you to sleep when the baby sleeps and take lots of photos. But in the thick of it, the broken nights and the endless feeds, it's impossible to believe you'll ever forget a single second.

And then you blink.

The sleepy weight on your chest. The tiny curled fingers. That funny little newborn squeak they only make for a few short weeks. It softens into memory so much faster than you expect.

That's the part I love about what I do. Not just the photos, but holding onto a few moments from a chapter that feels endless while you're in it and impossibly brief once you're through it. Because one day it's a newborn on your chest, and then somehow it's a great big schoolchild you can't quite scoop up anymore.

So if you're deep in it right now, whether that's a 3am feed or a bleary early morning with a baby on you, I see you. It's exhausting and beautiful all at once. Take the photo. Even the messy phone one. One day you'll be so glad you did. 🤍
