Before you compare the final figures, make sure you’re comparing what’s included. The last thing you want is to discover extra costs once work has started.

It’s tempting to head straight for the door samples....but a beautiful colour won’t fix a layout that frustrates you every morning.

Before you pick your shade, think about:

1. **How you’ll use the room**
Quick breakfasts, cooking together or having everyone over? Design around your everyday life.

2. **The layout**
Where will you prep, cook and wash up? Make sure there’s room to move comfortably, even when the dishwasher is open.

3. **What you need to store**
From the air fryer to the recycling, give everything a home. Plan storage around what you actually own.

4. **Your appliances**
Decide what you need early. Appliance sizes and positions influence the cabinetry, worktop space and overall layout.

5. **Your lighting**
Think about daylight, practical lighting for food preparation and softer light for evenings. Your favourite colour can look very different under each.

Then get those samples out and see how they look in your space.
