⚽️ 🥅🏆 ⚽️🥅🏆We were asked if we could get a power and water supply sorted in the beer garden as Pepsi were delivering a bar and tv for the World Cup.

We came up with a plan, Ryan and Marc attended Monday and sorted the pipe work/pipe run for the water, and made a good start on electrics, for Jamie and Marc to complete on Tuesday so everything was up and running and completed in RAPID time, well done again guys! 🦸♂️ 🦸♀️

The Romance of Brick, Mortar, and Black Country Iron. 🔑🏭

There is a unique kind of romanticism in the building trade. We spend our lives constructing the future, but every now and then, history gives you a nod and invites you to become part of its story.

I’m incredibly proud to announce that LG Building Contractors have officially started work on our new premises we have aptly renamed "Lockside House" in Willenhall.

For anyone from the West Midlands, this building needs no introduction. It is the historic former home of ERA, one of the absolute titans of British lock-making. For generations, the craftsmen inside these walls manufactured the security that protected homes all over the UK. They built things to last, with standard-setting precision and pure Black Country grit.

DID YOU KNOW - That our Finance Director did her work placement there, her Mom was a stalwart of the ERA set up and gave many years to the place.

Our MD's Dad (and LG's business support Manager) now 71 got his first job on the premises after leaving school.

Our signage expert (who will be working with us on the property) owners of GingerApple Signs & Graphics used to work there and so many of our friends, family and colleagues have fond connections with the place, WE WILL do it proud!

As a local contracting firm, taking over a landmark steeped in THAT level of local and personal heritage feels poetic.

We aren't just moving into a new office unit; we are taking part in a piece of Willenhall's industrial soul.

Our mission has always been about solid craftsmanship, reliable reactive maintenance, and doing right by our commercial clients.

Moving into 'Lockside House' feels like the ultimate alignment. We are breathing fresh life into these 200m² of space—complete with a fully modernized, tech-driven setup—while keeping its historic heart intact.

A Fire Door is only a "Fire Door" if it’s installed to Regulation!

In our reactive maintenance work across the UK, my team and I come across the same alarming issue week after week: Fire doors that look the part but fail every single regulatory check.

It’s one of the most common—and dangerous—compliance gaps we see in the hospitality and commercial sectors.

The "Grit" Reality: A fire door isn't just a slab of timber. It is a life-saving system. Yet, we constantly find:

• Incorrect Gaps: Excessive clearance between the door and the frame that allows smoke to bypass the seal.
• Wrong Hardware: Non-fire-rated hinges and closers that will fail under heat.
• Poor Intumescent Fitting: Seals that are either missing, painted over, or incorrectly installed.
• Non-Compliant Glazing: Vision panels fitted with standard glass instead of fire-rated alternatives.
