Why is a reinforcing bar ribbed?

At Lemon we use ribbing to create a mechanical interlock with the concrete.

Concrete can become more brittle as it hardens this means is its very strong in compression but is relatively weak in tension. This is why the rebar is placed inside concrete as the steel resists the tension making the structure much stronger overall.

The ribs prevent the steel from slipping within the concrete, allowing both materials to grip together as one strong composite unit.

This prevents large, dangerous cracks from forming and keep the concrete structure durable as one strong composite unit. 💪

Another successful delivery 💪

Anybody who knows the streets of London knows that driving an HGV, whether Class 1 or Class 2, can be a real challenge. From narrow streets to the constant flow of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, you have to always stay alert..

Ryan’s delivery took him to White Church Lane in Whitechapel, an area that presents its own challenges when manoeuvring an artic. The job required a tight reverse into Assam Street with a standard trailer to get into position so the team at Laz Construction could unload the 21 tonnes of cut and bent reinforcement steel needed for their project.

We would also like to say a big thank you to the two traffic marshals on site. Their clear communication, professionalism and support helped keep the area safe for both pedestrians and road users while guiding Ryan through the manoeuvre smoothly.

At Lemon, we know that successful deliveries rely on teamwork, preparation and people who take pride in doing the job safely.

Now for the hardest part of the day... sitting back with a coffee while the lads on site do their thing! ☕🚛

As a new sponsor of Scorpio Motorsport's GB4 team, we wanted to show off just how cool our logo looks on both jackets and sports cars! 😏

We are really excited to see the team make a strong start to the season, with a fantastic first race at Silverstone.

GB4 plays an important role in developing the next generation of racing talent, giving those a pathway into progression - from karting into single-seater racing.

Reducing the environmental impact of construction 🌍

The world of construction has a huge role to play in creating more of a sustainable future.

This World Environment Day, we want to reaffirm our commitment to our own sustainable practices. We are supported by recognised standards and accreditations including ISO 14001 Environmental Management, CARES Sustainability, BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing and FORS Gold Accreditation 🚚

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are rolling out a project to install solar panels at our depots, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions 💡

Each small change or improvements across the different stages of construction can help to make a big difference towards a more sustainability built environment.
