If you need to use a fan heater etc for supplementary heating, use a timer and regularly check the plug and socket for heat damage

Got called to property with smell of burning on off peak (economy 7 ) board
Found the cartridge fuses were loose in their holders causing overheat
Replaced with plug in Wylex MCBs

If the property had a recent EICR inspection then this would have been picked up prior to causing a problem.
