We’re back at the incredible Witley Court 🏛️

Once one of England’s grandest country houses, Witley Court was transformed into a spectacular Italianate mansion in the 19th century for the Foley family. Sadly, a devastating fire in 1937 left the house in ruins, but the surviving architecture — including the magnificent Perseus and Andromeda fountain — still gives a glimpse of the extraordinary scale and ambition of the estate.

St Peter’s Church in Walworth - London

High level surveys and cyclical maintenance are an important part of looking after our built heritage.

We can be up, deal with an urgent issue, and back down again in a single day! As we have done here at St Peter’s.

Also, we get to enjoy laddering not one, but two overhangs! 🤪

Back at Longleat House, and we’re removing some columns to the workshops for some minor repairs and some rewiring work for the lights.
Whilst on holiday, the stonework will have all embedded ferrous metals removed, which will ensure longevity for the masonry going forward once reinstated.

This week we’re working at the incredible St John’s Smith Square in Westminster, carrying out conservation work on the towers — all from ropes!

Built between 1714 and 1728, this remarkable Queen Anne church was designed by Baroque architect Thomas Archer. It was badly damaged by fire during the Blitz in 1941, leaving much of the building in ruins before its eventual restoration.

Over 300 years of history, a few wartime scars, and plenty of stonework to keep us busy! 🏛️🪨

We’re up the Tyndale Monument with Wiltshire Steeplejacks this week to carry out some maintenance works.

The Tyndale Monument is a 111-foot (34-meter) tower on Nibley Knoll in North Nibley, Gloucestershire, England. Completed in 1866, it honors William Tyndale, the first person to print the New Testament in English
