Latest progress on the new wall art.
I've spent a lot of time burning this one and the next step is sanding.

I never really know exactly where these pieces are going when I start them, I just follow the ideas and see what happens.

I'm looking forward to seeing what appears once the sanding starts.

Some people only see the finished projects or the process shots.

They don't see the the small back yard I call my workshop, temporary setups, working outdoors, adapting to the space available, or finding ways to keep creating regardless.

I remember my first ever pallet wood build was in a back yard just big enough to fit a pallet in

For years I thought I needed the perfect workshop before I could take myself seriously.

I have now come to realise the work matters more than the available space.

So until that workshop arrives, I'll just keep building.

Started with a pile of pallets and an idea to help out for the SUMMER HOUSE PARTY event happening Crawshawbooth this Saturday.

A bit of measuring, a bit of cutting, a bit of burning & apparently a brief DJ career in the middle of it all 😂

Built entirely from reclaimed wood and pallet wood.

15 metres of bespoke planters built over 3 days 🌲🔨
A lot of measuring, cutting, lots of lifting, a few splinters, sore knees and more sawdust inhaled than I'd like to admit 😂

It's always satisfying stepping back and seeing a project finally come together after days of work.

Big thank you to the lovely couple I built these for, they fed me and kept the coffee flowing and had great conversations which is always a nice unexpected bonus.

They had a vision and I brought their vision to life.
Really proud of this build

Started the day by getting a splinter 😂
Then spent the rest of it dragging planters around and fitting support rails for the false floor.

The false floor means these only need filling part way with soil, making them lighter, more practical and using a lot less compost.

Not the most glamorous part of the project, but it was all part of the process for the Ninja planters.

The first 6 metres worth of planters is finally built.
Still got over 8 metres left to build, but it's always satisfying seeing a project start taking shape.

42% complete. 58% still to build. Time to crack on with the rest.

One section at a time.
One board at a time.
One planter at a time.

A lot of people ask where my ideas come from.
The honest answer is,I don't fully know.
Most of the time I start with a feeling, a texture, a shape or an idea that arrives out of nowhere.
Then I follow it.

This new wall art piece started with Golden Ratio dimensions, a sheet of ply and a carving wheel.

Everything else has been revealed through the process.
It's still far from finished, but I'm excited to see where it takes me 🌲🎨
