Jim is looking forward to revisiting the Ludlow Fine Book Fair Ludlow Bookbinders Ltd. held at the racecourse on 17th and 18th October.

Ludlow Book Binders Ltd organise the event every couple of years as a celebration of fine craft printing and bookbinding.

Gathering letterpress printers, bookbinders, restorers, dealers and suppliers, all under one roof. Entry is free, free parking & café on site.

Our October Introductary offer of coloured Half Imperial 200lb rag hand-made tinted Watercolour paper is selling briskly.

But why paint on a coloured ground? These two holiday pictures by Jim's late Father-in-Law, John Smith, illustrate the possibilities nicely. Similar subjects on TR not, but the cream sheet suffuses the village square with warm sunlight. In comparison the left hand painting, on white, is much 'colder'.

Through the last two weeks of October, we will have a display at the ‘Water Water Exposition’ at the Cold Harbour Mill in Devon.
Visitors will be able to buy our paper, and on Saturday 24th Jim will be demonstrating hand paper making throughout the day.

Introducing our new range of Half Imperial mixed colours.

Handmade cotton and linen rag paper in the following shades:

Grey, Green, White, Cream, Oatmeal and Sand.

At 200lb, this paper is substantial enough to handle generous washes, and the gelatine tub-sizing keeps paint on the surface rather than letting it sink in. Pigment dries bright and sharp, and the surface takes lifting, scrubbing and reworking. This paper is suitable for watercolour, acrylics, pastels, oils, mixed media and many printmaking processes. Billy is a talented musician and guitarist with a passion for blues and country music. He also has a keen eye for photography, illustration, and comic book art.
