𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗪𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 🚧

The works on Harwood Road were completed yesterday, so we wanted to share a quick update with the local community.

The work has now been finished, with the road left in a much-improved condition. We’ve included some before and after photos below to show the difference.

We’d also like to apologise to local residents for any disruption or inconvenience caused while the work was taking place. We really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while the work was being completed.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, so the road is now back to normal following the completion of the works.

Thank you to everyone in the local community for your cooperation. 👏

Harwood Quarry Community Consultation Drop-In

We’re hosting a community drop-in event for anyone who would like to come and speak directly with the team about Harwood Quarry and the current planning application.

📅 Friday 18 September
🕑 2pm–7pm
📍 Harwood Methodist Church

Booth Ventures will be joined by our planning consultants and specialists from Envirogeeks, including members of the Nature Solutions team, so residents can ask questions about the project, restoration, ecology, environmental matters and the future of the site.

We want this to be an opportunity for people to speak to us directly, understand the plans and raise any questions or concerns they may have.

Please note that this event is hosted by Booth Ventures and is separate from Bolton Council’s formal planning consultation.

Everyone is welcome.

Dust suppression measures across our sites:

With temperatures this week hitting exceptional levels, dust suppression has become our number one operational priority across our restoration sites. We wanted to give an honest update to our local residents on the challenge we're managing and the steps our teams are taking to control it.

**Why the heat makes this harder**

Fine particles can become airborne easily through vehicle movement, wind and loading activity, creating dust. During restoration projects, where large open areas of material are actively being managed, this risk is significantly increased.

**This isn't a one off job.**
In conditions like these, water applied to the surface can evaporate within minutes. An area can be dry and dusty again almost as quickly as it has been treated.

That means dust suppression cannot be done once in the morning and left for the day. It requires bowsers and tractors to run continuously throughout the working day, returning to the same areas again and again. It is demanding, resource intensive work, and our teams are committed to keeping it going for as long as these temperatures continue.

**What we are doing about it**
• Water bowsers and tractors are running continuously throughout the working day, treating active haul routes, stockpiles and working areas repeatedly as surfaces dry out.

• Road sweepers are operating alongside the bowsers to keep internal roads and site entrances clear and reduce material being carried towards the public highway.

• All customers and hauliers entering site have been advised to reduce their speed to 5 mph. Slower vehicle movement helps reduce dust being lifted from haul routes.

• Loading operations are being moved to lower areas of the quarry where possible to reduce dust generation and limit how far fine material can travel in the wind.

• Site teams are monitoring conditions throughout the day and returning to areas as often as needed.

To our local residents, thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope you can see the effort our teams are putting in every day to keep dust down and minimise the impact as much as possible.
Team Booth Ventures.

Family means a lot at The Booth Group - and our day at Donington Park was a perfect example of that.

We were there to support Tom Cannon in his first race with Team BRIT, and what a debut it was - second in class and third overall. An outstanding result, and fully deserved.

This sponsorship has always been personal to us. Tom’s dad teaches Josh (son of our Founder Matthew Booth, and MD Kate McCarthy (FIRP), and all-round legend), and after hearing Tom’s story and seeing his determination, Josh was the first to say we should get involved. From there, it was an easy decision.

So when we arrived at the circuit, it felt like more than a race day. Matthew and Josh couldn’t miss the chance to cheer Tom on trackside, with members of the wider team there to support too.

The atmosphere was electric, the racing was unforgettable, and seeing Tom deliver that kind of performance on day one made it even more special.

We’re so proud to support Tom and proud to be part of his journey with Team BRIT this season.

The Booth Group and Envirogeeks back aspiring racing driver.

The Booth Group and Envirogeeks have teamed up to support St Helens-based racing driver Tom Cannon, bringing together expertise in land remediation, sustainable materials and environmental consultancy.

17-year-old Tom is a rookie driver for Team BRIT, the world’s only competitive team of all-disabled racing drivers.

Tom was diagnosed with autism in 2023 after his parents sought help for the many social challenges and social anxiety Tom was facing at school.

He discovered a passion for racing when he was just eight years old, and competed in the British Indoor Kart Championship. He then took part in the Ginetta Juniors Scholarship programme, reaching the final after competing against 70 drivers. Realising he had clear potential, he took his advanced ARDS test to enable him to compete in senior races.

He signed for Team BRIT this year and will compete in the Snetterton Saloons Series as part of a developmental rookie year. Tom will drive a BMW M240i and will team up with experienced driver Bobby Trundley, who will help support and coach him in his inaugural year with the team. Bobby is also autistic.

Now, both Booth Group and Envirogeeks branding can be seen on Tom’s race suit and car. Tom took to the track last weekend for round 1 of the Snetterton Saloons Series at Donington Park, where he came in 2nd in class and 3rd overall. An absolutely fantastic result.

The BMW M240i Tom is driving has been completely ‘recycled’ to become a racing car. Bought from an online auction after sustaining extensive structural damage, Team BRIT engineers stripped it and carried out a range of upgrades and additions. This is just one part of the team’s efforts towards greater sustainability, aligning with The Booth Group and Envirogeeks’ passion for demonstrating how materials can be reused and re-engineered, even in traditionally resource-intensive industries.

With a long-term ambition to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Tom is taking his first steps towards the highest level of endurance racing, with The Booth Group and Envirogeeks proud to support him.
