Rodent Control at the Pig Farm! 🐀🎯

Back out on a pig farm carrying out rodent control and reducing numbers around the buildings and feed areas. Farms can be a real hotspot for rodent activity, especially where there is a constant food source, warm shelter and plenty of places to hide.

Setup used on this job:
Scope: Nocpix ACE 2 H50R
R***e: AirMaks arms Katran SC
Tripod: Manbily.hunting
Pellets: JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy

This kind of setup allows me to work safely, accurately and effectively, especially when dealing with rodents after dark when activity is at its highest.

Why rodent control is so important on farms:

-Rodents contaminate feed with urine, droppings and hair.

-They spread disease and bacteria around livestock areas.

-They damage buildings, insulation, pipework and wiring.

-They can quickly multiply and turn a small issue into a major infestation

-They put biosecurity at risk and can affect the health of animals.

Keeping on top of rodent activity is essential on any farm. It’s not just about reducing numbers, it’s about protecting feed, livestock, buildings and the overall hygiene of the site.

If you need help with rodent control on farms, smallholdings or commercial premises, feel free to call or message today.

🐀 BLACK CAT TRAPS IN ACTION! 🪤

Called out to a commercial property where rodents have been using a disused office space, causing ongoing concerns for the business.

I was asked to help reduce the rodent numbers while also investigating exactly how they're getting into the building.

One thing I've always preferred is trapping rather than just putting poison down and hoping for the best.

Why? Because trapping gives me a much better understanding of the level of activity, the numbers we're dealing with and the areas the rodents are regularly travelling through.

Using Black Cat Traps alongside a thorough investigation allows me to build a much clearer picture of what's actually happening.

But trapping is only part of the job!

I'm also carrying out internal and external inspections, checking potential entry points, looking for signs of burrowing and investigating the drainage system where necessary.

There's no point removing rodents if you're leaving the door wide open for the next lot to move in!

For me, pest control isn't just about killing rats and mice. It's about understanding why they're there, how they're getting in and what needs doing to stop the problem coming back.

🐀 RODENT CONTROL AT THE FARM 🎯

Back out on the farm tonight keeping the rat population under control!

This evening I'm using the Nocpix ACE 2 teamed up with the AirMaks Katran in .22! Sat on top of Manbily.hunting Tripod! A cracking combination for those long nights around the farm buildings.

As soon as the sun goes down, it's surprising just how much rodent activity starts appearing around the farm. What looks quiet during the day can be a completely different story through the thermal!

Rats can cause some serious problems on farms, from contaminating animal feed and spreading disease to damaging buildings, wiring and equipment. Once they've established a reliable food source, numbers can soon get out of hand.

For me, it's not just about removing rats. It's about understanding where they're coming from, what's attracting them and putting measures in place to keep numbers under control long term.

📍 Covering the Cheshire, North Wales & surrounding areas.

Apparently it's 'National Badger Day' so here are a few facts about badgers and TB which no 'Trust' will ever give you.

In 1992, 1,626 cattle TB reactors were slaughtered. That was the year that all badger control stopped - at least until the RBCT.
Thirty years later, in 2022, 22,084 cattle TB reactors were slaughtered.

Cattle are routinely tested for TB, and culled if positive. Badgers aren't. But we've known since 1971 that they are the wildlife reservoir for TB. Our cattle reactors are therefore the sentinels for badger TB.

The SICCT cattle skin test is used worldwide because of its high specificity. If it produced lots of false positives, then Scotland and the North East of England would be plagued with TB breakdowns. But they aren't. The SICCT flags up the presence of TB. Look at the map. No badger TB in these areas. So no 'false positives'.

A hard boundary, which badgers can't cross, is provided by the huge conurbations of the Midlands and the North. If TB was spread by cattle movements, there would be no such boundaries. A cattle wagon can move cows anywhere, a sick badger gets flattened on a trunk road before it has a chance to infect healthy badgers on the other side.

It's obvious that the eastern boundary of England's HR area is being slowly extended. Unfortunately motorways in rural parts of the Midlands are a less effective barrier, easier to cross if you're a badger, whether healthy or coughing up TB bacilli.

If the badger groups genuinely cared about badger wellbeing, they'd be realistic about the horrible effects of TB on badgers. But they don't give a damn. Is it any wonder we have nothing but contempt for these self-proclaimed 'badger protectors'?

🐀 THIS is what a rodent infestation looks like when it’s never been dealt with properly!

I was called out to a local business premises that had recently been purchased after the new owners discovered they had inherited a huge rodent problem.

Let’s just say… this hasn’t happened overnight. This has been going on for YEARS.

Heavy grease marks along regular rat runs, extensive gnawing and hundreds of droppings throughout parts of the building. The evidence tells a pretty clear story of a long-standing infestation that has never been properly investigated or brought under control.

Simply putting poison down isn’t enough in a situation like this. We need to establish where the rats are coming from, how they’re getting into the building and what’s allowing the infestation to continue.

We’re confident we’ll get this under control and, more importantly, find the root source of the problem before the building undergoes its refurbishment.

If you’ve got an ongoing rat problem that keeps coming back, there’s usually a reason.
